Jeremy Helvig

February 2021 – With Nedeljkovic splitting time between the NHL and the taxi-squad Helvig has taken the advantage of his opportunity in the AHL early on. He has already played more games this season in the AHL (three) than he has ever in his career. Helvig has won all of his starts, posting a 3-0-0 record, a .915 save % and a 2.67 goals against average. This year has provided prospects like Helvig a chance they might not have gotten, but he is showing that he has what it takes to play at higher levels than the ECHL. – Austin Broad 

April 2019 – Helvig put together a solid first season as a professional, playing 39 games at the ECHL level, and one at the AHL level. Both Helvig and his prospect counterpart Callum Booth shared the Everblades net throughout the season,  with former having the more consistent numbers during the regular season, and the latter carrying the load in the playoffs. The two will be tied to each other as they rise through the organizational ranks, starting next season with the AHL net in Charlotte likely needing to be filled. Both are years away from an NHL role, but have shown the ability to get there in their young careers.  Kevin LeBlanc

July 2017 – Pairing with Jason Robertson as the most important cog in the Kingston wheel, Helvig had a terrific post-draft season. He started the most games (59) in the OHL, finishing in the top five among goaltenders who started 35 games or more in saves (1530), shutouts (6) and goals against average (2.72). The Frontenacs got good news last week when Helvig and Canes GM Ron Francis confirmed that the netminder would return to Kingston for an overage season. He should again be one of the best goaltenders in the OHL, taking another season to develop before turning professional for 2018-19.  Kevin LeBlanc

August 2016 – Helvig is a modern day NHL style goalie. He is huge and takes away a lot of the net for shooters. But he is also very athletic with very quick feet and glove hand allowing him to make saves as well as block shots. The 2015-16 season proved to be a coming out for Helvig and as the season progressed he won the starting job in Kingston away from overage and 2015 OHL Goalie of the year Lucas Peressini. Helvig was outstanding in the second half of the season which resulted in his appearing on the NHL Draft radar, but his playoff was disappointing .  Helvig will join fellow Frontenacs Roland McKeown and Warren Foegele in the Carolina prospect pipeline.  Peter Harling
