Fantasy Summary
Bottom-six winger with some playmaking ability. Will rack up solid hit totals as an aggressive forechecker but unlikely to be a significant offensive contributor.

October 2021 – Timashov was placed on unconditional waivers for the purpose of being released from his contract. A career minor-leaguer, the 25-year-old Ukrainian got into only one NHL game with the Islanders, recorded 11 points in 22 outings with Bridgeport, and never seemed like a fit in the organization. Mark Allan
October 2021 – Timashov was among 10 players waived by the Islanders in their first round of training camp transactions. He was assigned to the Bridgeport Islanders of the AHL Mark Allan
September 2021 – Timashov was re-signed to a one-year, two-way deal. Considering the Isles’ impressive depth and the Ukrainian’s failure to take advantage of his few NHL opportunities, he’ll serve the AHL Islanders not the big-league ones. Mark Allan
July 2021 – He didn’t do much to earn a qualifying offer as an RFA, and Timashov didn’t get one. The Islanders could conceivably sign him as a UFA or let try to catch on with his fourth NHL franchise. Mark Allan
July 2021 – Finishing his fourth AHL schedule with five goals and 11 points in 22 games, the sturdy 24-year-old Ukrainian RFA is at a crossroads with his third NHL organization. Unless he begins to separate himself from the pack, he looks like a minor-pro lifer who occasionally gets called up. Mark Allan
February 2021 – After appearing in just one NHL game with only 7:13 of ice time, the Ukrainian was assigned to Bridgeport. Acquired from the Red Wings on Dec. 11, Timashov is familiar with the AHL, racking up 202 appearances in three campaigns in Toronto’s system. Mark Allan
January 2021 – Timashov was assigned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, but he’ll have to wait to get into a game. The AHL has delayed its season start to Feb. 5, the second time the pandemic has forced the league to postpone. Mark Allan
December 2020 – The Isles acquired the hustling winger from Detroit for future considerations. The 24-year-old RFA posted four goals and five assists last season in 44 outings with the Leafs and Wings. The Ukrainian boosted his stats in three successive AHL campaigns with the Marlies, going from 24 to 34 to 49 points in league play and posting 22 points in 39 post-season appearances, culminating with 10 points in 13 games in 2020. The RFA’s short-term future is surely in the AHL, likely on a two-way contract. Mark Allan
September 2020 – The former 5th round pick finally cracked the NHL in 2019-2020, spending most of the season on Toronto’s fourth line before being claimed off waivers by the Red Wings in February. He got into just five games with Detroit before the season came to an abrupt halt and failed to register a point. Timashov is a short but stocky winger who is aggressive on the forecheck. He has decent top speed but his feet are not tremendously quick. More of a passer than a shooter, he is capable of playing with more talented players but his ceiling is likely that of a bottom nine forward. Nick Richard
February 2020 – The Red Wings have claimed Timashov off the waivers. Jokke Nevalainen
February 2020 – Timashov has remained with the Leafs all season long due to his waiver-eligibility, but has been in-and-out of the lineup as a 4th-line option. His 9 points and 75 hits in 35 games isn’t bad for a player seeing around 8 minutes per night, but he remains blocked on the depth chart and has reportedly suggested interest in being traded to a home with a more consistent spot ready for him. His decent 4th-liner contributions and his history as a high-rate scorer make him a good sleeper pick to stash away in your deeper leagues just in case the best case scenario pans out. Hayden Soboleski
September 2019 – One of the bigger surprises in Leafs camp has been Timashov’s relentless shine in pre-season, which appears to have earned him a day-one NHL roster spot. He has been dangerous both with the puck and while hunting it down, proving to be harder to knock off the puck than expected. He must clear waivers if he gets sent down at any point, so it’s safe to assume he will be given a proper audition on the 4th-line before the organization risks losing him. Don’t expect big numbers right away, he won’t be seeing special-teams time, but this is a big step of someone that we have been patient with. Hayden Soboleski
June 2019 – Timashov’s campaign was another one that gives us promise and patience. His career-high 49 points in 72 games was more than welcome, as was his promotion to the top PP unit and top line for good stretches of the year. The downside however was the fact that his offensive improvements came only on the powerplay, with almost no increase in even strength production despite getting more minutes than in the past. He also upped hos PIM game, which is good for poolies but bad for his real life value. He still has fantastic offensive vision and creativity, but he is not quite the dynamic threat that his talents could make him. Expect another full campaign with the Marlies. Hayden Soboleski
November 2018 – In his third season with the Marlies, it looks like Timashov is being leaned on as a go-to offensive player on the squad. 6 points in 10 games so far is his best production rate so far, but his shooting rate is down from the playoffs and 2/3 of his points are coming on the man-advantage. His skill is indeed best suited for the powerplay, but he needs to be more dangerous at even-strength to be a true offensive prospect. Hayden Soboleski
January 2018 – Timashov is having a solid second season with the Marlies on the first year of his entry level contract. He is very skilled with the puck and a solid goal scorer he has progressed this year over last year and is now one of the key players with the Marlies. Among the young Marlie prospects only Andreas Johnson is making a bigger contribution. Tiamshov has eight goals and eight assists in 25 games so far this year with the Marlies. He will be given a shot at making the Leafs next season but it will be an uphill challenge for the diminutive winger. Competition for a spot with the Leafs will be very intense next year with Soshnikov, Grundstrom, Johnson, Aaltonen, Rychel and Kapanen to compete with. It is likely he gets into a few exhibition games but will return to the Marlies for at least another season or two. Brian Harling
January 2017 – Offensively the season is a struggle for the undersized, winger with only five points in 23 games. He is rather exciting with the puck and is constantly producing chances for a third liner, unfortunately he has not been surrounded by talent up to support his level of play. I’m looking for a bigger second half of the season as his shot rate has doubled in his last 10 games. Keep tabs on him to be notable in upcoming seasons. Jason Banks
November 2015 – The undersized dynamo is lighting up the QMJHL to the tune of 1.86 points per game! He sits 5th in league scoring, 3rd if you pro rate the top 10. He is currently on a run of 28 points in his last 12 Rampart games including a five point night. Timashov is expected to be a force on the Swedish World Junior squad in the upcoming tournament where we will get more exposure to him and see how he stacks up in a more competitive environment and big stage. He actually had a very strong camp for the Maple Leafs showing off his passing and puck protection skills along the boards. Should turn pro next season, despite having overage junior status. He is a dangerous player to take a chance on as a manager, his production is extremely impressive to many, but it is very questionable if he will be an offensive force when he goes pro. Jason Banks
June 2015 – The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Dmytro Timashov with the 125th pick of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Brendan Ross
June 2015 – Ukranian born Dmytro is one of the older players available for the 2015 draft. He went from Ukraine to Sweden and joined Modo. He worked his way through the ranks of Modo appearing in the SHL for three games picking up an assist, that same year he posted 41 points in 40 games at the U20 level, he was 17 at the time. This past year (2014-15), Dmytro took his talents to the Memorial Cup hosting Quebec Ramparts. Timashov was the QMJHL rookie of the year and offensive rookie of the year, Michel Bergeron trophy, after posting a gaudy 71 assists and 90 points in 66 games. Timashov’s production dipped a bit in the playoffs posting 18 points in 22 games but in the memorial cup he posted three goals, an assist and eight penalty minutes in five games. Timashov has shown a bit of an aggressive side, which is unexpected out of many European players. His skating and especially his acceleration make him a dynamic player while his ability to stickhandle while travelling at those speeds makes him all the more impressive. While Timashov’s skating and stickhandling make him great he needs to work on his shot, adding some mass, and his defensive play. Benjamin Gallant
