Fantasy Summary

Massive winger with solid puck protection tools and composure. The skills and skating hold him back, but should become a solid third-line checking forward.

Observations

September 2026 – Jecho’s final WHL year with the Oil Kings was a step back – 36 points in 47 games after posting 53 in 56 the year prior – and the recurring concern about his size remains. At 6-5, he is one of the more physically imposing players in his draft class, but the inability to consistently leverage that advantage against junior competition is a real flag heading into what was expected to be his first AHL campaign with the Springfield Thunderbirds.

Any projection is now secondary to the news that Jecho has been placed on indefinite leave while receiving care through the NHL and NHLPA’s Player Assistance Program. The joint program provides no timeline for return, and under its terms he will not resume play until cleared by program administrators. The nature of his situation is not disclosed, and the timeline for his return to the ice is unknown. Dynasty managers should remove him from active consideration for the foreseeable future. August 2025 – Jecho’s sophomore WHL season finished quite similarly to his rookie campagin. His 25 goals and 28 assists for 53 points in 56 games were a slight improvement over the 25/24/47 line he earned in 54 games a year ago. He is an imposing body on the ice, at 6-5 and weighing 201 pounds, but he doesn’t use his size as effectively as he could at the Junior level. The size advantage will evaporate as he moves into higher levels with older and larger players, so he will need to start learning to use it soon lest he gets left behind. He still has the size and hands to make the NHL with some polish and progression, but his ceiling lowers as he misses opportunity to show he can take the next step.

Counter all of that with the fact that he is still only 19 years old with a lot of runway ahead of him. He could catch up quickly as most big men take a longer curve on their development. It is just helpful to temper expectations. Watchlist, but don’t roster, and see if he can take a meaningful step forward in one of his last WHL seasons before moving on to the AHL. Alex Wyatt

March 2025 – The St.Louis Blues signed Jecho to a three-year entry-level contract on March 25, 2025. Mark Henry

July 2024 – Jecho was selected 95th overall by the St.Louis Blues. Mark Henry

April 2024Adam Jecho is a challenging read. He’s a 6’5 pivot but doesn’t dominate the game as you’d like. He has a hard shot that he uses to create quality looks, good puck protection, and a solid transition game for his size, but his lack of vision, dynamism, and ability to create for his teammates severely impacts his offensive ceiling. He has the tools for it, but he doesn’t break up plays, win on the forecheck, or have the speed on pucks to be considered a defensive center. A selection in the first two rounds is a bet on his physical tools coming together to form a more cohesive, two-way game. Luke Sweeney

April Rankings: 66th

February 2024 Adam Jecho, a Czech national playing for the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings, has been a much-talked-about prospect, with some even pushing for him in the early first round. There’s certainly a lot to like. For starters, he’s 6’5 and 200+ pounds, near a point-per-game with solid but not spectacular skills. Jecho doesn’t play with much creativity, but he has some skill. While many of his skills are good for a player his size, they don’t stand out in a big way. His shot is hard with a quick release, but he’s not a long-distance sniper. While his puckhandling, touch, and puck protection are all solid, he doesn’t create much with his passing. Jecho’s limited ability to create offense for himself and diminished ability to do so for others drives him down our list. His size, skill, and poised play could make him a decent NHL contributor lower in the lineup, but at this stage, an impact top-sixer seems unlikely. Luke Sweeney

February rankings: 54th
