Fantasy Summary
A high hockey IQ, two-way center with a good shot and offensive upside.
Observations
September 2026 – Holinka capped two strong WHL campaigns with a dominant overage year for the Edmonton Oil Kings – 80 points in 59 games, leading the team in goals and finishing second in scoring. The Czech centre backed that up with one AHL appearance late in the year as a taste of what comes next. A three-year entry-level contract signed in July 2025 keeps him in the Toronto system through 2027-28. His projectible frame, excellent hands, and growing defensive awareness have tracked in the right direction since arriving in North America, and his skating – a modest concern at the junior level – will face its real test in the AHL this year. The upside is a middle-six role for the Leafs. A dynasty stash worth rostering now in deep leagues. Ryan Downey
July 2025 – The Toronto Maple Leafs signed Holinka to a three-year, entry-level contract on July 15, 2025. He played in the Western Hockey League during the 2024-25 season and will have the option to return to the WHL for the 2025 -26 season as an overager/import. It is not out of the question for Holinka to spend the 2025-26 season in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies. The 19-year-old offensive-minded center demonstrates a high hockey IQ and is capable of producing offensively at all levels. Although he needs time to develop in the minors, Holinka is a dynasty league stash in fantasy, and following his next steps in his career will help project his upside. Mark Henry
January 2025 – A breakout player for the Czechs at the World Juniors, Holinka has always been a slippery and creative offensive player, something that may have been unrecognized given Holinka’s lower upside. He’s adjusted well to NA ice playing in the WHL. He’s a strong playmaker whose defensive game has grown since moving over from Czechia. The potential is there to be a middle-six Center for the Leafs.
