Liam Foudy

December 2019 – No surprise here, Foudy has been selected as one of team Canada’s forwards heading to the Czech Republic to compete for gold. While this will be his first WJC action, the Ontario native has represented his country in both U-18 and U-17 tournaments in the past. The London Knights’ captain plays a responsible 200-foot game, all while being an extremely consistent point producer. The speedy forward can be used throughout the lineup and will slot in as a key addition to a team hoping to bounce back from a  disappointing finish one year ago. Through 20 OHL games, he has produced 13 goals, 13 assists and a plus-18 rating. Dave Hall

November 2019 – It’s been a good start to the season for the 2018 first-round-pick. Since returning from injury, the fourth-year OHL veteran has registered points in all games but one. Currently tied for second on the London Knights in goals, Foudy has racked up 15 points (8G + 7A) for a respectable 1.36 points-per-game in 11 matches. With the WJHC just over a month away, the Ontario native stands a very strong chance to slot into Canada’s forward group and should play a key role in chasing gold. The two-way pivot recently represented team OHL in their annual two-game series with the Russians. Although he was held off the scoresheets, his skating abilities were definitely on display and looked solid in both match-ups. Dave Hall 

October 2019 – Foudy has been re-assigned to the London Knights after suffering an injury that forced him to miss training camp. The 20-year-old was named the clubs co-captain for the season but was forced to miss their first seven games. The smooth-skating forward has since returned to the roster and has wasted no time making an impact on the scoresheet. In two games, he has five shots, two goals, and a +1 rating. Playing in his fourth and final junior season, the former first-round pick should be a prime candidate for a late-season call up to the pro rankings. April 2019 – The Blue Jackets have assigned center Foudy to the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL. The 2018 first round pick is expected to join the team prior to the first game of the Calder Cup playoffs. This should serve as a great opportunity to experience pro hockey and accelerate his development. Frank Pellegrini

January 2019 – Foudy has been named OHL Player of the Week. He recorded four goals and four assists in three games. He also extended his goal streak to nine games and his point streak to ten games. Frank Pellegrini

December 2018 – Foudy has been named to the preliminary roster for Canada in the 2018-2019 IIHF World Junior Championship (WJC) in British Columbia. Having represented the team last year, he should make the team again and play a key role. A captaincy or alternate would not be a surprise. Frank Pellegrini

October 2018 – Foudy had signed an entry level contract in July and has been assigned to the OHL’s London Knights. He is a late bloomer who surprised many when the Blue Jackets selected him in the first round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, but he has a lot of upside. He is blazing fast, but his hands need to catch up to his feet before he can play in the NHL. He has the overall skill set needed to get there but putting it all together is going to be the key to determining how long it will take. It would not be a surprise if he earned a middle-six role in the NHL by the start of the 2019-2020 season. If not, one season later. Frank Pellegrini

August 2018 – It will continue to be a very busy summer for the Blue Jackets first-rounder. Liam Foudy just signed a three-year, entry level contract with the big club. Foudy then received an invitation to Canada’s World Junior Summer Showcase in Kamloops, B.C. The showcase begins this week, Foudy then plans to train in London, Ont. in preparation for the upcoming Knight’s campaign. Expect him to take part in the Jackets rookie tournament followed by their training camp in September before the OHL schedule begins. Foudy ended last year playing second-line center and intends to win that spot full time this year. Jesse Sherman

July 2018 – The Columbus Blue Jacket’s first pick in the 2018 draft broke out in a big way during the second half of last year playing for the London Knights. Liam Foudy is considered to be one of the best skaters from the OHL in his draft class. He is slated for a bigger role this fall. With potential to have high fantasy upside, Foudy should be a middle-six forward for Columbus down the road. Jesse Sherman
