Arttu Hyry

October 2026 – Hyry opened the 2026-2027 season as the Dallas Stars’ third-line center while Matt Duchene is out with a lower-body injury. With Duchene’s core surgery announced it now hands him the NHL position until roughly mid-January. He has dressed for all five games this season. Thirty-six of his 49 faceoffs have come in Dallas’ own defensive zone showing that a coach trust his skill at faceoffs, and he has shown he deserves that spot winning two-thirds of those faceoffs. He averages more than two minutes a night on the penalty kill, currently with no power-play time. Hyry’s defensive results hold up, but his line has spent little time in the offensive zone, and he has no points and four shots on goal so far. There is more scoring in his game: his shot is among the hardest in the league, he scored 24 goals as an AHL rookie in 2024-2025, and he plays a heavy game with 13 hits in five games. Below-average top speed limits what he creates in transition. His waiver exemption expires at 60 NHL games, a mark he reaches around mid-December if he plays every night. His realistic ceiling is a 25-to-30-point third-line center who adds faceoff wins and hits. He is a worthwhile add in deep multi-category leagues and a monitor in points-only formats. Andrew Epps
