Brandon Buhr

May 2026 — Buhr finished a four-year college run with his best season, scoring 19 goals and totaling 17 assists over 35 games at Union. He then signed a one-year entry-level deal with Toronto for 2026-27 plus an amateur tryout with the Marlies (AHL) for the rest of the season. He took the long road. He played three BCHL seasons with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs, then one year at Clarkson and three at Union, and the late-blooming arc is the point. Elite Prospects ranked him fourth on its college free agent list, well ahead of where other public rankings had him. He is a 6-2, 205-pound forward whose size projects as a real asset, and he finished third in the ECAC in goals in 2024-25 and tied for fifth this past season in a tight-checking, low-event league. For fantasy, the projection is a bottom-six energy winger who can chip in goals, not a scoring-line piece. The shooting touch is legitimate, but the playmaking and processing pace are average, which caps the offensive upside. The first real test is how the goal-scoring holds up against AHL goaltending across a full Marlies season in 2026-27. Andrew Epps
