Egor Velmakin

August 2024 – After an up-and-down first season with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL, appearing in seven games at the KHL level but also only playing 15 games total, Velmakin is ready for a larger role. During this preseason he has played pretty well, flashing a lot of what he previewed during his time with the Carolina Hurricanes development camp. Velmakin has shown improvements in his vision, using his hands at the top of the crease a lot more, as well as making routine saves not entirely complicated. He mentioned wanting to go back to Minsk to become the best version of himself and so far, he has shown that. His potential might top out at a low-end 1B starter at the NHL level, but he has shown enough to have an NHL future.
