Fantasy Summary

A large defenseman that can skate well and shut down opponents at a high level. His offensive and transition game are in question but considering his strong skating foundation Shuravin could develop into a competent middle-pairing defenseman who can pitch in offensively.

February 2025 – After playing about 40% of his draft year against men, Shuravin has played all but two games in the MHL this year. While this could be viewed as a form of regression or stagnation, it is far from the case for Shuravin. He has taken a noticeable step offensively and has taken this step without sacrificing his defensive game. He remains one of the smartest defenders in Russia and could bring something significant to the Panthers’ lineup one day. Shuravin will hopefully end up spending the next chapter of his hockey career playing against men because it is clear he has nothing left to prove at the U20 level. Watch for him to come over to North America at the end of next season. James Connelly
July 2024 – Shuravin is coming off a solid draft year campaign where he split time between the MHL, VHL, and KHL. His strongest play came in the KHL against the highest level of competition in the Russian leagues, which is an excellent sign for his NHL future. Shuravin skates well and defends even better, the prototypical shutdown defenseman for the NHL level. He did not light up the score sheet but that is not his mold. He has a few more years left in Russia before he can come over to North America but once he does he could establish himself amongst the NHL ranks and one day become a defense-first defenseman who can consistently put up around 30 points a year.
