Hudson Malinoski

September 2026 – Malinoski’s junior year at Providence was a step back – 15 points in 36 games after posting 23 points in his sophomore campaign – and gave Toronto no reason to sign him ahead of his senior year. He has transferred to North Dakota, where a more prominent role should present an opportunity to rebuild his stock. The best-case scenario is a career year that earns a Marlies invitation heading into 2027-28. The ceiling remains a depth option at the NHL level if he can put together a strong senior year. August 2025 – A center with good playmaking ability and strong skating skills, Malinoski continues to work on his defensive game at the NCAA level. He is trending in the right direction with his overall game, positioning himself to see NHL ice time in the future. While he will not be a high-end player, he could provide value as a bottom-six forward.

After a solid freshman season at Providence College during the 2023-24 season, Malinoski showed positive development in his sophomore season in 2024-25. He was second on Providence College’s team in points and tied for the team lead in goals. The Toronto Maple Leafs own his rights for two more years and will need to sign him before they lose his rights in 2027.

Malinoski is an underrated, lesser-known prospect in the Maple Leafs pipeline. Consider adding him to your watch list and following his development over the next two or three seasons. Mark Henry
