September 2022 – Against the odds, former 7th-round-pick Leivermann has earned himself consideration as at least a long-shot NHL prospect. The scoring defenceman is slightly assist-heavy but in his 4th campaign with the University of Notre Dame he led his squad in points per game with 6 goals and 21 assists in 34 contests. He approached 3 SOG per game which bodes well for sustainable offence, and put up over 1 block per game, while earning the Alternate Captain role. Colorado’s signing rights for Leivermann expire during the 2023 offseason, so he will be playing for his pro career this year as he returns to the NCAA for one more run. His average size and lack of pedigree won’t give him any advantages in terms of earning an ELC, but his production and ability to play significant minutes will likely be enough for at least an AHL deal to turn pro.
