Jet Greaves

September 2026 – Greaves officially made the jump from promising prospect to regular NHL goaltender in 2025-26, taking on a much larger workload and earning himself a significant contract in the process. The 25-year-old went 26-19-9 with a 2.60 GAA, .908 save percentage and two shutouts in 55 games, ranking among the NHL’s better goaltenders in both GAA and save percentage. He followed that performance by signing a three-year, $15 million contract with Columbus that runs through 2028-29, solidifying his place as a major part of the Blue Jackets’ goaltending plans. October 2025 – Jet Greaves is splitting starts with Merzlikins in the NHL to start the 2025-26 season, continuing his climb through the ranks in the Blue Jackets organization. While Merzlikins and Greaves both have save percentages over .900 to start the season, Greaves has a slightly lower goals against average. Expect the Blue Jackets to continue to split starts until either one of them plays themselves into the full-time starting role. Given that Greaves’ steady improvement, Merzlikin’s inconsistency and Tarasov being traded to the Florida Panthers before the draft, he has earned a significant portion of the organization’s trust. June 2025 – Greaves has really blossomed as a pro, leapfrogging more than a few players who were more highly-touted than him. It goes to show that at 18, you just don’t know what you’re getting in a goaltender. In fact, even judging a goalie at 21 is hit and miss. Greaves was never drafted, and he doesn’t have ideal size (just 6-0). But he’s worked his way up from anonymity in the ECHL to post-improving numbers for three consecutive years.  He makes up for his size with positioning and anticipation, not to mention above-average agility. He has made NHL appearances in three straight seasons, culminating in 11 games last season and boasting a 0.938 SV%. What’s more, he has been clutch, actually improving his SV% to 0.955 in the third period. Greaves’ progress makes for a great story, and given the struggles of Elvis Merzlikins and Daniil Tarasov, he has a good chance of sneaking onto the NHL team and stealing a job. – Dobber

June 2022 – The 21-year old netminder appeared in his first professional season this year. Before coming to the Blue Jackets organization, Greaves played the past three seasons with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League. 

Greaves played most of this season with the Cleveland Monsters of the AHL, posting a 2.84 GAA and a .905 save percentage, with a 12-12-3 record. He also played in 15 games with the Kalamazoo Wings of the ECHL, posting a 3.05 GAA and a .907 save percentage, with a 10-5-0 record. Greaves added solid depth to the organization, and should make his NHL debut in the near future with the Blue Jackets. – Clare McManus
