Joaquim Lemay

June 2024 – Lemay has left the University of Nebraska-Omaha and transferred to Northeastern University for 2024-25, where he hopes this new team can help him further his development. Last season he had 18 points in 37 games, a slight increase on his 12 points in 32 games in his first NCAA season. Pat Quinn

October 2023 – Lemay finished the season for the University of Nebraska-Omaha with 12 points in 32 games. He plays a very solid two-way style. Lemay will probably play in the NCAA for another two or three seasons as there is no need for him to rush his own development. Pat Quinn

February 2023 – Lemay’s first season in the NCAA with the University of Nebraska-Omaha has gone quite solidly. His offensive numbers are not popping like they did in the USHL, as he sits fourth in defense scoring with 10 points in 27 game, but the all around features of his game have still been pretty good. He transitions the puck well and can play solid defensively in the zone or off the rush. Lemay is right now tracking to be a solid #3-#6 defenseman, if all goes right of course, and if he can add more offense in to his game his upside could be quite good for fantasy leagues. Pat Quinn

September 2022 – Lemay’s year in the USHL was quite great as he produced 46 points in 58 games, but it would have been nicer to see him play against some tougher competition. In 2022-23 that will change as he is moving to the NCAA and joining the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Lemay showed a knack for being an offensive defenseman and he has the potential to develop in to a #1PP QB and a top four two-way defenseman, if all goes right of course. Pat Quinn

January 2022 – Lemay moved from the BCHL to the USHL for the 2021-2022 season and his results have improved. The USHL is a slightly more competitive league than the BCHL but not as great of a leap as it would be if he went to the NCAA. For 2022-2023 he is committed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he will play tougher competition. His 21 points in 23 games for the Lincoln Stars is impressive, and he is also wearing an “A” for the USHL team. Pat Quinn

August 2021 – Lemay was drafted by the Capitals in the fourth round. He is a two-way defenseman who was a late-bloomer and will need time to develop. Lemay plans to develop by heading to the NCAA and taking his time going through school. He was the only player selected in 2021 that played in the BCHL. Lemay is also a left-handed defenseman, which of course is inconceivable because the Capitals never draft left handed defensemen (sarcasm). He can develop in to a bottom-two pairing defenseman if all goes according to plan. With the current defensemen under contract, and the next wave knocking at the door, the Capitals have time to wait and help Lemay develop. Pat Quinn
