Brody Lamb

March 2026 – Lamb capped off his NCAA career with the Minnesota Golden Gophers having missed out on qualifying for the Frozen Four tournament, leading to the dismissal of long time Gophers coach Bob Motzko.  Lamb recorded 30 points in 35 games for Minnesota during his Senior season, during which he wore the “C” as the team’s captain.  Lamb was signed to an amateur tryout with the Rangers to finish the season, and has already appeared in five games with the Hartford Wolf Pack, registering two goals and two assists during that span.  The organization will likely want to see Lamb put in some more time at the AHL level heading into 2026-27, but the righty possesses some promising offensive upside and could earn a spot as a middle-six winger in New York next season or shortly thereafter.  Brendan Ferry

March 2026 – Lamb signed an entry level contract with the Rangers on March 13.  Chris Babos 

August 2025 – After another strong season at the University of Minnesota, the righty shooting Lamb has now completed three seasons of NCAA play. A season ago, the Minnesota native posted 26 points in 39 games played for the Gophers, a team that was loaded with NHL draft picks. He is listed on Minnesota’s active roster for 2025-26, when he will be entering his senior season. Lamb will be looking for a big season offensively and should have ample opportunity to log big minutes on a somewhat depleted Gophers roster, after the departure of former first-round picks Jimmy Snuggerud, Matthew Wood, and Oliver Moore. The Rangers hold his signing rights until August 15, 2026. Brendan Ferry

January 2025 – Lamb is in his third season with the University of Minnesota, wearing number 17 in those classic maroon and gold Minnesota sweaters. He has emerged as one of the key players for the Golden Gophers this season as a point-per-game player, with 12 goals and seven assists and a plus-five rating, in 19 games played. While Minnesota’s roster is laden with NHL draft picks, he has been able to emerge with a true breakout season this year, and leads the Gophers with 12 goals. Lamb looks primed to earn an entry level contract with the Rangers as early as this upcoming summer, if he is ready to leave college and turn pro. Although Lamb will need to continue to add strength, listed at six foot one and only 165 pounds, he has shown the offensive game to be able to make an impact at the pro level in the not-too-distant future.  Brendan Ferry

May 2024 – After Lamb’s Freshman campaign in NCAA hockey with the University of Minnesota, in which he did not receive too much ice time due to the team’s impressive talent and depth, the winger was looking for some improved numbers in his Sophomore season. During the course of the 2023-2024 season, the righty was able to triple his point totals from his Freshman season, in the same number of games (39).  The lanky winger registered 27 points in 2023-2024, after putting up only eight points in 2022-2023. The Golden Gophers maintained a very impressive roster this past season, but more even ice time and opportunity will likely be available to Lamb during his first season, assuming he stays a Gopher. Due to the increasing prevalence of players jumping into the transfer portal, to join other programs mid-way through their collegiate careers, it is far from certain that a player will remain with the same team for his full NCAA career. Nevertheless, Lamb will be back playing at the college level for at least one more season, likely two, as he tries to earn a pro contract with New York. He will certainly benefit from his summer of training and will be looking for even bigger results in 2024-2025.  Brendan Ferry

June 2023 – Lamb completed his freshman season playing for the NHL-prospect laden University of Minnesota in 2022-23, appearing in 39 games and posting four goals and four assists. On last season’s Golden Gophers roster, the Minnesota native struggled to find ice time. The Gophers’ forward roster included NHL prospects Logan Cooley, Matthew Knies, Jimmy Snuggerud, Bryce Brodsinski and Rhett Pitlick.  As some of that talent moves on to the NHL, it will likely mean that Lamb will have an increased role with the team. Still just 19 years of age, Lamb will continue to grow both physically and hockey-wise, as he suits up for his second NCAA season. Brendan Ferry

July 2022 – Lamb is set to begin his NCAA career this season for his hometown Minnesota Golden Gophers.  The 18-year-old right wing completed his stint in the USHL for the Green Bay Gamblers, appearing in 10 games during the 2020-2021 season, and 62 more during the 2021-2022 season, where he posted 19 goals and 22 assists for 42 points. Lamb, who will turn 19 later this summer, will be lacing up the skates with a talent-laden Minnesota squad, featuring 2022 third overall pick Logan Cooley, as well as a host of other NHL draftees. It will be interesting to see how Lamb fares at the collegiate level, after posting strong numbers for his High School and USHL teams over the past few seasons.  One thing is for certain, he can definitely lean on some of his fellow draftees and upper-classmen Minnesota teammates to help him grow and mature as a hockey player starting this Fall.  Brendan Ferry

August 2021 – The Rangers went to the Minnesota High School circuit with their 104th selection of the 2021 NHL draft. In Brody Lamb, the Rangers secure the type of player who possesses the offensive upside of a middle-six forward, but also potentially the ability to play up and down the lineup, supporting top-notch players, and elevating grinders alike. His ability to dominate the possession game and drive offense of every kind at the USHS level was impressive, however, a substantial gap exists from where he is and where he needs to be in order to succeed at the NHL level. He’ll continue to develop in the USHL and eventually at the University of Minnesota. Brayden Olafson
