January 2024 – It’s been nearly four years since this profile has been updated, and, unfortunately for Jack Smith, it is because there has been nothing to talk about. He’s in the midst of his most productive NCAA season so far, with a whopping nine points in 25 games, but it is almost certain his rights will expire in Montreal. While the NHL is unlikely for Smith, his basic tools are strong, and his skating is very fluid. His style may be more effectice in Europe, and if he chooses to pursue hockey after university, that is probably where he’ll land.
October 2020 – Smith was drafted in round four at 102th overall. Smith put up 30 points in 11 games in the Minnesota High School league. He is committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Pablo Ruiz
