Robert Mastrosimone

July 2025 – Mastrosimone turned 24 in January, and as of yet the former second-round pick has not seen NHL ice-time. In 2024, he played a depth role on the Toronto Marlies of the AHL, scoring 10 goals and adding four assists in 50 games.

He didn’t factor into the team’s powerplay unit, with all of his points coming at even strength- and posting an impressive 82.4% IPP at five on five- and three of his four assists being of the primary variety.

Mastrosimone’s contract expired at the end of the season, and is likely to sign a two-way or minors contract. Alex Wyatt

December 2020 – Detroit’s second round pick from 2019 was initially named to USA’s preliminary roster for the 2021 World Juniors but eventually needed to be replaced due to COVID protocols. Boston University has yet to begin play this season but Mastrosimone will look to build off a solid freshman campaign when they get their season underway. Nick Richard

October 2020 – Mastrosimone had a solid freshman season for Boston University, tallying seven goals and 10 assists through 34 games. Although he is undersized, Mastrosimone plays a tenacious game and is elusive with the puck on his stick. He has above average vision and passing ability but he is not exceptionally quick for a smaller player. He has the potential to be an offensive threat at the NHL level if he can improve his skating as he continues his development in the NCAA. Nick Richard

December 2019 – Selected in the second round of the 2019 draft, Mastrosimone is a small but skilled stickhandling sniper with an attitude. Known for his creativity and hands, Mastrosimone has a high-octane motor and enjoys playing a physical and competitive game. He can make plays or use his hard shot from anywhere. As one of the top wingers in the USHL in his draft year, Mastrosimone scored 31 goals and put up 29 assists in 54 games for the Chicago Steel. So far this year at Boston University, the freshman has put up 10 points in 17 games. Mastrosimone will need to work on his skating to transition to the next level. Mark Hiller
