Fantasy Summary
As a goalie, he is not likely to make an NHL impact for a few years, but Jones displays good reflexes, solid positioning and a good glove hand. If he continues to develop, with improved recovery and puck handling, Jones could challenge for a starting job one day in the NHL

June 2023 – Jones spent the majority of his season in the ECHL for the Iowa Heartlanders posting a losing record and a save percentage of .905 and GAA of 3.07. At only 22 years of age, and a former 2nd round pick, Jones still has quite a bit of potential but he is in a tough situation behind future Wild starter, Jesper Wallstedt. Before Wallstedt was drafted and signed by the Wild, Jones was playing significant minutes in the AHL, where he failed to make an impact. Jones can still carve out an NHL career, but he will need to prove that he has the abilities in the AHL first. When Wallstedt gets a spot in the NHL, Jones can take his place as the AHL starter to see if he can progress and develop to become at least a back-up caliber goalie at the NHL level. Nathan Leblanc
February 2021 – Jones has joined the Iowa Wild. His first game didn’t go so well, with Jones allowing seven goals on 44 shots. Sam Happi
September 2019 – Hunter Jones has been returned to Peterborough of the OHL for the 2019-20 season. He should be a fixture in net for the Petes. Sam Happi
June 2019 – The Peterborough Petes netminder was strong between the pipes for the OHL squad. Jones’s excellent glove hand and good reflexes are the strength of his game. He is very athletic which allows him to make saves when out of position. Jones does a decent job of being in good position but when the opposition sustains pressure and creates extended zone time, and his positioning can break down a bit. He was drafted by the Minnesota Wild at the tail end of the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft. The Wild’s goaltending situation is in stable condition and bolstered by the presence of Jones who is set to play another season in the OHL. Jones has ample time to develop into an NHL-caliber goaltender due to the goaltenders at various stages of development ahead of him on the depth chart. Tony Ferrari
