Marshall Warren

June 2023 – Warren is a former 6^th round pick for the Wild that has been plying his trade for Boston College in the NCAA the past four seasons. As a defenceman, he has posted consistent point totals. However, his 2022-23 season was a slight regression from his 2021-22 season. He is expected to play for the University of Michigan during in 2023-24, where he will help lead his team to a championship. Still unsigned, it remains to be seen if his future is with the Minnesota Wild or another NHL club. However, he definitely has the potential to be a depth defenceman at the NHL level one day. February 2021 – Warren is back at Boston College for his sophomore season, where he currently has six points in 15 games. Points have never been his calling card; his focus should be continuing to develop his puck-moving and defensive abilities. Sam Happi

June 2019 – The defender out of the USNTDP fell in the draft more than most expected being selected 166th overall in the NHL Draft. Warren is an excellent skater with phenomenal edge work. His ability to skate himself out of trouble often goes unnoticed. Despite his lack of size for a blue liner, he is not afraid to engage physically. Warren’s ability to get up to speed quickly is an asset he uses in the defensive zone to stay in good position against larger opponents. His high top-end speed allows him to break away from players in the neutral zone. Warren’s shot is effective and accurate, with added strength and some physical maturity it could become a serious weapon for creating chances and rebounds down low. The young American’s strength in the offensive zone is his ability to skate the blue line and feather good passes to his teammates. Despite the talent to play on the power play, he was limited there because of being on a stacked USNT U18 team. He could get a greater opportunity at the NCAA level as he grows into the college game at Boston College. Tony Ferrari
