Tye Felhaber

June 2022 – In a low-risk trade with Dallas, the Lightning acquired Felhaber in exchange for center prospect Alexei Lipanov in February. Felhaber, playing 15 games in the ECHL with the Orlando Solar Bears this season, was a point-per-game, and will probably be playing with the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL full-time this upcoming season. At only 23, Felhaber could very well be a fringe NHLer one day. Aaron Itovitch

June 2019 – Felhaber has signed an entry-level contract with the Dallas Stars following a torrid season in the OHL with the Ottawa 67’s. Skating on a line with Austen Keating and 2020 Draft Eligible Marco Rossi, Felhaber recorded 59 goals and 109 points in 68 games played, placing him second in the OHL in goals and tied for third in points. Felhaber’s greatest asset is his high-end shot, as his wrister is both heavy and accurate and can pick corners on netminders with ease. Felhaber can get good power behind his slap shot, however, his wrister is his primary weapon when he has the space to tee up from the slot. Felhaber’s skill level is good, and he can make the occasional flashy play with his hands to beat defenders in tight or fake out netminders. He is not a blazer in terms of speed but Tye can move around the ice well and is able to get himself into position for scoring opportunities. He is rarely lagging behind the play and can keep up with faster teammates. His hockey sense and playmaking abilities are about average, but Felhaber will make his living in the pro ranks scoring goals and will be able to begin proving himself with the Texas Stars during the 2019-2020 season.
