June 2022 – An upcoming RFA, Strome only became a fixture in the AHL this past season after playing most of the two seasons prior in the ECHL. Recording just 16 points in 63 points with the Phantoms in 2021-22, once hopeful expectations surrounding the once-dynamic OHL goal-scorer have dipped drastically. Even if Lehigh Valley successfully moulds him into a quality bottom-six forward, the Flyers already possess plenty of young talent ahead of him in the depth chart that fits that description. May 2019 – Upon being assigned Lehigh Valley, Matthew Strome showed some encouraging early signs of life with two apples in the last six games of the Phantoms’ regular season. Nothing is outright stopping this train after he scored a new OHL career-high in points with the Hamilton Bulldogs this season. He would do well to focus on his skating and to a lesser extent his play without the puck. All things considered, he is progressing nicely. Edric Joseph
