July 2020 – Josh Brook was apart of the 33-man training camp roster that the Canadiens released on July 12th. Brook will be used as a depth defenseman and will only get game time if multiple defensemen get injured. Pablo Ruiz

March 2020 – Brook has been in and out of head coach Joel Bouchard’s dog house this season. Although he has shown flashes of the mobility that made him a dominant player in the WHL last season, he also has had moments where he gets lost in his own zone or gets caught flat-footed and consequently gets burned. This has lead to games where he has been a healthy scratch. Brook still has all the tools to become an NHLer but this season has been full of adjustments to the professional level. Pablo Ruiz

April 2019 – Brook signed an entry-level contract last fall and after being criticized for his inconsistent play the year prior, Brook responded in spades. This campaign he led all WHL defenseman with 16 goals and 75 points earning him a stint with the Canadiens’ AHL affiliate, the Laval Rockets. Although he should be slated for full time with the Rockets, expect the young blueliner to at least compete for a spot with the big club come September, especially if Noah Juulsen is injured again. Jesse Sherman

January 2019 – As a member of Team Canada at the WJC, Brook was on the second pairing and was actually used in more of a defensive role, killing penalties. He still managed two assists in five games. It’s interesting that he was used in this way given his status as possibly the top offensive defenseman in the WHL, but it bodes well for his long-term NHL certainty. – Dobber
