July 2024 – The wheels feel off quickly and dramatically for Prosvetov after a strong start in the Colorado organization. In 11 games played (just 5 after the previous entry), he managed to drop his save percentage to .895%. He lost the backup role to the younger Annunen who never let go and earned himself a contract extension. Prosvetov is now a Group-6 UFA. His AHL stats remain strong so he will likely have a job somewhere for 2024-25 – if history repeats and injuries give him another NHL chance – be ready to pick up fast and drop fast as soon as the drop comes. December 2023 – Not only has Prosvetov been a serviceable backup in Colorado, but at times he has even stolen the crease. His .906 sv% is as good as he needs to be behind a strong Avalanche squad, as shown by his 4 wins and 1 OTL through 7 games started. His number of appearances has now surpassed his career-high with no reason to slow down, and Francouz’s injury has been determined to be season-ending so owners can likely enjoy this production for the remainder of the campaign. His fit with the Avs should perhaps not have been a surprise, now that local reporters have figured out that he is good friends with Nikolai Kovalenko, who the Avs hope will join the squad as soon as spring 2024. October 2023- As expected Prosvetov was one of the final Arizona cuts and was placed on waivers to be sent to the AHL. With an injury to Pavel Francouz, Colorado took a chance and claimed the Russian goalie. Justus Annunen was sent to the AHL and Prosvetov will now serve as Alexandar Georgiev’s backup. Once a promising goalie prospect for Arizona, Prosvetov’s stats in the AHL the last few years have not been good. The Coyotes drafted three goalie prospects in this past June’s draft and signed Connor Ingram to a three-year contract this last off season. The writing seemed to be on the wall that Prosvetov was not in the team’s long-term plans. With a light schedule to start 2023-24, it’s expected that Georgiev will see the bulk of starts. June 2023- After a couple rough years, Prosvetov was back last year. His play was much more consistent, especially in Tucson. There, he was firmly the team’s No. 1 goalie, helping the Roadrunners reach the playoffs. His stats were not great (.900 SV%, 3.06 GAA) but his play in the crease was much improved than the past few seasons. An RFA this summer, Arizona gave Prosvetov an extended audition to see what they have. He started very strong (3-0, .952 SV%, 1.67 GAA) before having some up and down performances to finish the year. At 24 years old and on a expiring contract, the time is now for Prosvetov to at least seize a back-up spot in the NHL. He has arbitration rights and is no longer waiver exempt, so either with Arizona or another team, Prosvetov should get an NHL opportunity. Keith Duggan
March 2023- While his stats for Tucson have not been strong (.900 SV%, 3.06 GAA), Prosvetov play has been much better than the last two years. As a RFA this summer, Arizona recalled him to see what he could do with the big club announcing he would be staying to finish 2022-23 season. So far Prosvetov has been outstanding, posting a 3-0 record with a .952 SV% and 1.67 GAA. Once pegged as Arizona’s goalie of the future, Prosvetov is living up to the expectations once again. June 2022- Coming off his ELC, Arizona quickly signed Prosvetov to a one-year contract. While all the fundamentals are there for a potential goalie of the future, his numbers the last few years have not been good. A .880 SV%% and 3.66 GAA were the worst stats of his pro career in 2021-22. It’s worth noting though, Prosvetov played behind a weak Tucson lineup, one that suited an almost more competitive ECHL lineup and AHL one. Still more is expected from your top goalie prospect and while Prosvetov could be spectacular at times, he also struggled at others. One impressive showing was on a call-up to Arizona in January, when he put up an 44 save effort against one of the NHL’s best in Colorado. Prosvetov is expected to play 2022-23 in Tucson with hopefully him getting a full year of development. Between COVID-19, game postponements, taxi squad and injury-induced recalls, he has only appeared in 90 AHL games during the last three years. The potential is still there, the young goalie just needs more game reps before he’s ready. Keith Duggan
October 2021- With Carter Hutton suffering a lower-body injury, Prosvetov has been recalled to the NHL squad. The Coyotes are struggling mightily right now but Prosvetov is off to a hot start with Tucson. He’s posted a 2-1 record with a .922 SV% and 1.34 GAA. Keith Duggan
September 2021- It was a tough development year for Prosvetov. As injuries hit the Coyotes crease, Prosvetov found himself in the NHL for a long stint backing up Adin Hill or on the taxi squad. While it was good to be around the NHL, as a 21–22-year-old goalie he needed to be getting game reps. He appeared in three contests with Arizona in that time, two in relief and one as a starter and his numbers were not good, 4.15 GAA and .824 SV%. In the AHL as Tucson’s undisputed starter, Prosvetov was better. Prosvetov can get swimming in his net at times but learning to hold lines and remaining calm is something that every goalie coach will tell you comes with time and experience. The quickness and athleticism Prosvetov possesses for a big 6-5 frame can’t be ignored. Despite some tough numbers last year, he still has future NHL starter potential to him, Prosvetov just needs more time in the AHL before he’s ready. Keith Duggan
February 2020- It’s been a very impressive rookie pro season for Prosvetov. He’s kept up posting great numbers in every league Prosvetov has played in so far. He has spent most of this year in the AHL, where Prosvetov has been not only one of the top rookie goalies but one of the top overall netminders in the league. His .921 SV% in the AHL is top among rookie goalies and seventh in the AHL. A short stint in the ECHL was the same story, registering a record of 4-1, including a .930 SV% and 2.40 GAA. Prosvetov is pushing Adin Hill very quickly for top goalie prospect in the organization. Keith Duggan
October 2019- Questions about where Prosvetov would begin play in 2019-20 have been answered as the young goalie will tend net for Tucson. He beat out older goalies Eric Kallgren and Merrick Madsen for a spot on the AHL squad. Keith Duggan
July 2019- The Coyotes have announced that they have signed Prosvetov to an entry-level contract. The team wasted no time after he put together a very strong 2018-19 year. Prosvetov finished third in voting for top goaltender in the OHL after posting 36 wins, fifth best SV% (.910), sixth in GAA (2.94) and tying for second in shutouts. He was just as impressive in the playoff’s for Saginaw, posting some of the best stats in the league before unfortunately getting suspended for five games after batting the puck into the spectator area during a stoppage of play. This was during Game 2 of the Western Conference final series against Guelph which Saginaw ultimately ended up losing. Among goalies that played at least two games, Prosvetov finished with the best SV% and third GAA. With Adin Hill and Merrick Madsen most likely to play in Tucson this coming season, Prosvetov probably heads back to Saginaw as an overager. A strong training camp with the Coyotes though he could push himself into a AHL spot or in the ECHL. Keith Duggan
March 2019- A big, athletic goalie, the Coyotes considered Prosvetov very “raw” after selecting him in the fourth-round of the 2018 NHL draft. It was his second go around at the draft, going unselected in 2017. He showed solid potential playing as an 17-year old in the NAHL but jumped more on scouts radars last season tending net in the USHL for Youngstown where he posted a 19-9-1 record with a .913 save percentage and 2.90 goals against average in 36 games. The Russian native then helped Youngstown reach the Clark Cup Finals, going 7-3 with a .921 SV% and 2.58 GAA in 11 playoff games. At the draft he stated his preference to play in North America, not Russia, for 2018-19 and saw himself selected by Saginaw in the CHL Import draft shorty afterward. In the OHL, Prosvetov has put together an excellent year, making people notice he could possibly have a future in the NHL. He had the fifth best SV% in the OHL with an .910, sixth best GAA at a 2.94 and posted the third most wins at 36. Blessed with physical gifts, he moves his large frame around the crease very quickly, playing a butterfly style. Prosvetov looks quite comfortable dropping down wherever the puck may be, he’s solid at covering the lower half of the net, and doesn’t look slow or gangly recovering from an initial save. He’s also know as a character on and off the ice, quickly becoming a fan favorite in Saginaw for doing cartwheels on the ice and diving into the bench on delayed penalties. While Prosvetov has shown great promise, he has a long road ahead of him, especially with several goalies ahead of him on the Coyotes depth chart right now. Arizona is very high on him though, keep an eye on him he could be a sleeper pick. Keith Duggan
