Fantasy Summary

Big netminder who has a bit of a unique style but plays with a never give up attitude. He could be a good NHL backup in the near future, or perhaps more

October 2020 – Starrett has signed to play with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the AHL.  Pat Quinn

March 2020 – The Condors’ fantastic season from last year seems like so long ago now. Starrett’s season likely could not have gone much worse than it has thus far. Not only has he played just 14 games due to injury but his 0.874 SV% and 3.63 are a far cry from the 0.918 and 2.33 from last year. His numbers are not all on him though as his injury, the team’s injuries and the team losing a number of players to call ups has definitely hindered the Condors’ success. On top of all that, a lot of Condors have regressed statistically this year. To make matters worse for Starrett, after last year when he was one of the AHL’s top netminders, he signed a one year deal that is set to expire in a couple of months. The big netminder will turn 26 in July and cannot afford to have less than successful seasons. It is hard to say at this point whether or not Edmonton intends to resign Starrett but lucky for him, the Oilers do not have a lot of goaltender depth in their system. Jameson Ewasiuk

March 2019 – It is hard not to be impressed with the season that Starrett is having for the Bakersfield Condors of the AHL. The 24-year-old AHL rookie is leading the league in goals-against average with 2.21, is third in save percentage with 0.921 and is third in the league with 23 wins. To top it all off the young net minder has lost just four games in regulation this season. Starrett is nearing the end of the second year of his two year contract with Edmonton and has definitely earned an extension. The Oilers do not have a set backup for next season so if he is extended, the door is open for Starrett to take that spot. Currently Stolarz is the backup in Edmonton but he is a restricted free agent after this season and it is unclear whether or not the Oilers will extend him. Jameson Ewasiuk
