May 2019 – One of four RFA D-men in Pittsburgh’s minor-league system, the 26-year-old had an unexpected 18-goal, 50-point, 74-game eruption in his third AHL schedule. As well as leading all Wilkes-Barre/Scranton skaters in points, the late bloomer topped all of his teammates with nine PP goals and a plus-26 rating. As a Group 6 free agent (skaters at least 25 with three accrued years of pro experience with an expired contract and fewer than 80 NHL games played), he’s earned UFA status. His explosion came at a perfect time for him, if not the organization. Mark Allan

February 2019 – Although time is against the 26-year-old compared to younger fellow prospects, the looming unrestricted free agent continues to impress. While Teddy Blueger is up with the big club, Prow needs only one point to reach 39 and tie the Latvian for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton team lead. Eight of Prow’s 15 goals have been on the power play, he’s plus-22, he’s scored three game-winners, and he’s a right-hand shot from the point. Mark Allan

December 2018 – A prototypical puck-moving modern NHL blueliner, the Minnesota native parlayed a point-per-game senior campaign with St. Cloud State in 2015-16 into a top-10 Hobey Baker nomination. His modest young pro career has included two brief ECHL stints, although 14 points (including six goals) in 23 AHL games this season qualifies him as the top back-end point-producer for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and third-best on the team. Even better, he’s sitting at plus-12 with two power play goals and a game-winner. At 26, time is not an ally, although at this rate, the looming RFA is making a good case for a new contract.
