June 2019 – Vesel did not get a qualifying offer from the Oilers which means he becomes an unrestricted free agent. Jokke Nevalainen
March 2019 – Since signing a one-year contract back in May with the Oilers, things haven’t gone as planned for Vesel. The hope was that Vesel could be a fairly consistent contributor in the AHL this season and potentially mentor some of younger prospects. Statistically his 14 points in 49 games is lackluster at best. The soon-to-be 25-year-old is nearing the end of his one-year contract, and at this point it seems unlikely that the Oilers will extend him. Jameson Ewasiuk
October 2018 – Vesel’s 2017-2018 campaign featured him being named captain of the University of Nebraska-Omaha as well as a Hobey Baker award nomination after recording 32 points in 35 games. Once the season was completed, the 24-year-old signed a one year deal with the Oilers. Being a more experienced and older prospect, the hope was that Vesel could potentially fight for a spot on the Oilers or at the very least make an impact in Bakersfield. At Oilers camp the young forward struggled to make an impact and was ultimately sent down to the AHL. It’s only four games into the season but Vesel has not yet recorded a point whereas younger prospects such as Cameron Hebig, Tyler Benson and Cooper Marody have all recorded at least three points. Vesel will need to improve his offensive production if he hopes to receive another extension from the Oilers. Jameson Ewasiuk
