Fantasy Summary
Hard-working, high energy and pace, but unproductive in a bottom-six role.

November 2021 – Sherwood has spent the 2021-22 campaign so far up and down between the NHL and AHL. For the Avs he has managed one point in eight contests, putting up roughly one shot and one hit per game over the span. There is no reason to expect this pace to uptick and this is likely not fantasy-worthy even in deep leagues, but in the AHL he remains over a point-per-game meaning he will stay in consideration for call-ups. July 2021 – Colorado has signed Sherwood to a one-year, two-way deal. The fringe winger saw 16 games of NHL action last season, plus two in the playoffs as injuries and suspensions thinned the herd. Even as an occasional streaming option he isn’t going to put up enough points for fantasy relevance, especially with under 9 minutes aTOI, but his hit totals are good so he holds some value in deep leagues. October 2020 – The 2019-20 season was a lot different than the 2018-19 one for Sherwood. In 2018, he made the Ducks opening roster and suited up for 50 games, but only played in 10 this past season for Anaheim. The biggest factor that goes into these numbers is who was behind the bench; Randy Carlyle was the head coach in 2018 and he loved Sherwood’s effort and ability to play a grindy type of game. Dallas Eakins is a modern day coach and was looking for more skill from his bottom-six group.
While Sherwood is a good energy guy who can kill penalties and isn’t afraid to lay a hit, he won’t provide much in terms of fantasy hockey. At 25-years-old, he is a fringe NHLer who will get a cup of coffee when the team suffers a few injuries or needs a little bit of energy. Lucas Main
October 2018 – Sherwood has made the Ducks opening night roster. He’ll kill penalties and play a grindy 4th line role. He’ll add a lot of quickness to the Ducks squad, but for fantasy purposes Sherwood will primarily be a peripheral guy, helping you out with PIM and hits. Lucas Main
September 2018 – The Ducks signed the college free agent last Spring after spending three years at the University of Miami (Ohio). He played in 11 games for the Gulls last year with two goals. He doesn’t have a ton of offensive power, but he brings speed, work ethic, and smarts to the line up. Sherwood made a big impression at development camp and during the rookie tournament and finds himself on the verge of making the team out of camp. Lucas Main
