Ville Meskanen

December 2019 – Meskanen’s contract with the Rangers has been terminated. He has decided to return to the Finnish Liiga.  Jokke Nevalainen

March 2019 – Meskanen’s debut slate in North America hasn’t been as glorious as many fans or owners may have hoped. He’s spent the regular season grinding it out in the AHL which has resulted in some offensive success, but with the smaller ice surface limiting his skill-set to some extent. His production has been consistent throughout the year, for the most part, but has quieted off as of late. TIt could realistically take the length of his contract for the team to truly know what they have in Meskanen. Thus far there’s little indication that he’ll result in an effective scoring forward at the NHL level, and little indication that he’s taking steps forward through the year. Brayden Olafson

August 2018 – Signed as an unrestricted free agent by the Rangers in May of 2018, the twenty-two year-old Meskanen was the third highest goal-scoring player in the Finnish Liiga a summer ago. As an undrafted player, Meskanen cycled through several Finnish leagues before breaking out as an elite goal scorer in the top tier last fall. His two-year ELC will carry him through the 2019-20 campaign, allowing him to undoubtedly gain some NHL experience. Brayden Olafson
