July 2019 – Smith has signed an AHL deal for 2019-20, making him ineligible for NHL play and even less fantasy-relevant. However his rights are still owned by the Nashville Predators just in case his career turns around. Nicholas Kawka

November 2018 – Smith has one assist in six games with Bowling Green State University. The defensive defenseman was a seventh-round pick of the Predators in 2016 but hasn’t been able to develop very well offensively. Smith has very little fantasy upside and it is not likely that he will ever make it to the NHL. Matt Somma

January 2018 – Adam Smith’s 2017-18 season with Bowling Green State University has been pedestrian. The blueliner has zero points through 24 games and owns a minus-10 rating, despite playing for a relatively strong Bowling Green squad. Smith also has 37 penalty minutes through the campaign thus far. The 21-year-old does not play a dynamic offensive game. Much of his value comes from his positioning, shot blocking, and his work on the penalty kill. Even if he does make the NHL, Smith likely does not hold much fantasy value, even in very deep leagues. Tyler Halsey
