May 2019 – Carrick had his best statistical season for the Charlotte Checkers in his fifth full season with the team. At nearly 25, the defenseman is a mainstay among the AHL’s best blueliners, but his opportunity at the NHL level may have to come with another organization if he is to find a permanent role. Carolina’s defensive depth is strong at the NHL level and Carrick is likely to remain behind Haydn Fleury and Jake Bean at the prospect level. The defenseman is an restricted free agent entering the 2019-20, and how his contract is handled will likely shed more light on his role within the organization moving forward. Carrick still remains an intriguing prospect in multi-category leagues, as he hits and collects penalty minutes in addition to his point output. Kevin LeBlanc
June 2017 – Although statisically Carrick did not have as good of a year in his third season in the AHL, he still took a developmental step forward defensively. Carolina re-signed the former fourth rounder to a two-way contract on June 26th, which will likely see him spending the majority of his season in the AHL for his fourth season in a row. Carolina likes to keep right and left shot defensemen paired together, and Carrick is currently behind Justin Faulk, Brett Pesce and the newly acquired Trevor van Riemsdyk in the organizations pecking order. He will need to outplay Ryan Murphy and Roland McKeown in order to get NHL time. Look for him to spend time in the AHL, but be a potential injury call up if one of Faulk, Pesce or TVR go down. June 2016 – Carrick finished his second straight season among the top three scorers for the Charlotte Checkers. Building on his breakout rookie season where he posted 32 points, Carrick put up 42 points in 2015-16. For the second straight season, he led all Checkers defensemen in goals, assists, power-play goals and shots on goal. The 2015-16 AHL All-Star earned his first NHL call-up in March, playing in two games for the Hurricanes, but failing to record a point. He should be the Canes first defensive call-up due to injury in 2016-17, and has an outside shot of making the opening night roster with a solid camp. Kevin LeBlanc
October 2015 – Carrick was the Canes breakout prospect for the 2014-15 season. Setting records for a Checkers rookie defenseman for goals (seven), assists (25), points (32), power-play assists (13) and power-play points (14), Carrick flew up Carolina’s prospect ladder. Add in his 94 penalty minutes and you could have the makings of a multi-category fantasy monster if his play translates to the NHL level. This season, Carrick has picked up right where he left off. With three goals and six points the young defenseman leads the Checkers in scoring through four games. Kevin LeBlanc
Devember 2013- Trevor Carrick has signed an entry level deal with the Carolina Hurricanes. Trevor Carrick will bolster a weak Carolina defense and looks to continue his growth with this next step in his career. Andrew Ward
November 2013- Trevor Carrick can put points on the board. The Mississauga Steelheads defenseman has 20 points on the season ten of those being goals. Carrick is an intelligent player, he takes away space from forwards and has a good stick in the shooting lanes. Carrick pressures well and blocks shots when called upon. Carrick plays well along the boards and makes great passes out of the zone. He isn’t a fancy defenseman, rather he plays smart and gets the puck out of his own zone the quickest and smartest way possible. Carrick is has a great shot and is very accurate when shooting from the point. Andrew Ward
