Jérémy Davies

June 2022 – Davies was arguably Milwaukee’s best defenseman this season. At even strength, he rocked a 60.26% GF%, the best out of any defenseman on the team. He did not impress while up with the Predators, but he remains an intriguing depth option. Davies is now an unrestricted free agent, and it will be interesting if Nashville decides to bring him back into an already crowded left side on the defensive depth chart. Curtis Rines

April 2022 – Amid injuries to Mark Borowiecki and Dante Fabbro, the Predators called up Davies as a fill-in on the bottom pair. He has been outscored 5-1 when on the ice through four games, but that could be due to the .722 save percentage also happening when he is on the ice. At this point, I do not see Davies as anything more than a bottom-pair defenseman at most. Although he has been one of Milwaukee’s more consistent defensemen over the past two seasons, his NHL opportunities have been limited to 20 games in total. If he could make something out of his limited chances, Hynes could feel pressured to keep him with the big club, but for now, he is simply a fill-in when injuries come up. Curtis Rines

March 2021 – Davies has been sharp nine games into the AHL season. He has been leading the pack on the back end for a Chicago Wolves team made up of Nashville and Carolina prospects. With nine assists early on, Davies is building off a strong rookie campaign. His balanced effectiveness on both sides of the puck paired with his skating ability are taking him to the next level. He was recently called up to Nashville and will look to carve out some well deserved ice time in his first taste of NHL action. Nicholas Kawka

May 2020 – As a rookie, Davies finished second in defensemen scoring for Milwaukee with 28 points in 62 games. Whether it’s a hard defensive stop or jumping in on an odd-man rush, it’s hard to miss Davies on the ice. His strongest skill is his skating, which allows him to quickly act on his defensive instincts, but most of all, capitalize on turnovers to transition on the offensive attack.  His 120 shots on goal were fourth on the team this year and show how much he likes to jump up in the play. Davies is an effortless skater and with a good consistent play throughout his development, he promises to someday to the step to the NHL level. Nicholas Kawka

November 2019 – Davies has been a nice addition to the Admirals’ blue line. He’s been a solid puck distributor and transitions well on the breakout. Beyond his puck skills, Davies has shown a backbone to his game and has shown to be more physically engaging with his smaller frame than expected.  A big piece of the Subban deal looks to be a viable option on defense down the line. – Nicholas Kawka

April 2019 – Davies did indeed sign a two-year entry-level contract with New Jersey this month. His next destination will likely be Binghamton come the fall to play in the AHL. The minor league team will get a nice upgrade in talent. Chris Wassel

March 2019 – Davies keeps slowly progressing and now the question is does he play one more year at Northeastern or does he turn pro? His two-way game has improved so much from his freshman year to now. Many pundits feel he could step into the AHL right now and have success. That is not too shabby for a seventh-round afterthought. Chris Wassel

July 2017 – As an NCAA player entering his sophomore year, Davies was somewhat of a surprise addition to the Devils’ Development Camp roster. Likely this is a testament to the progress he’s made since first suiting up for Northwestern last fall, as well as New Jersey’s vital need for quality defensemen. Kevin Wickersham

March 2017 – After sweeping UConn in the first round of the Hockey East Tournament, Davies’ Northeastern squad was in turn swept by Boston University in the quarterfinals, bringing an end to a freshman season of solid progress for the Montreal native. In addition to refining his defensive game, Davies’ offensive production grew over the campaign as he finished with eight goals and 15 assists in 38 contests. While a questionable hooking call on the young blueliner led to Jordan Greenway’s winning goal for BU in their first game, Davies’ season-long showing will likely lead to an increased role with the Huskies in 2017-18. Kevin Wickersham

December 2016 – Davies has impressed as a Northeastern freshman, garnering significant ice time and praise from Huskies coach Jim Madigan as a smart offensive player with an impressive work ethic, and showing measured improvement on defense. He has indeed come a long way. Despite being named to the USHL All-Star first team with the Bloomington Thunder during the 2015-16 campaign, he drew little attention from scouts. Now he is compared in some NHL scouting circles to Shayne Gostisbehere. While three goals and five assists in 17 collegiate games don’t indicate great production, Davies displays offensive potential in the opponent’s zone with an intriguing blend of skating skill and mobility that counteracts his less-than-intimidating size. He has also proven skillful at quarterbacking the power play, leading the USHL with 24 power play assists in 2015-16. Kevin Wickersham
