Fantasy Summary

Unlikely to become a full-time NHLer, but has scoring upside if he does

June 2019 – Dano did not get a qualifying offer from the Jets which means he becomes an unrestricted free agent.  Jokke Nevalainen

April 2018 – Dano has been used sparingly this season by Jets coach Paul Maurice, appearing in just 22 games for the big club. The fact is, the 23-year-old former 1st-round pick has yet to catch on in the NHL with any real consistent minutes. The Jets are already the third team he’s played for over his short career and considering the amount of depth their organization has up front, it’s possible he will get lost in the shuffle and carry any significant fantasy value. Jamie Zadow

September 2017 – Dano was promoted from the AHL line to an NHL line featuring Mathieu Perreault and Adam Lowry in the Jets recent preseason matchup. This likely bodes well for Dano as the coaching staff feels he may have earned a spot on this Jets roster to start the regular season — although it will likely involve a bottom six role. – Jamie Zadow

May 2017 – Dano could well be on his way out of town this off-season by way of the NHL expansion draft, free agency or heading overseas to play. There’s little doubt about the Slovak forward’s offensive ability, but the real question is where can he fit into Winnipeg’s line-up. The Jets are very deep on young offensive talent and Dano has gotten lost in the shuffle. This past season he only played 38 NHL games, but still managed 11 points, but really needs a shot on one of the team’s scoring lines. – David Dickenson

October 2016 – The Jets sent Marko Dano to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL to start the season. – David Dickenson

September 2016 – Dano managed to play half the season in the NHL in 2015-16 between Chicago and Winnipeg, but it was after the trade to the Jets he seemed to pick up his game scoring eight points in 21 games. Dano is expected to see regular duty with the Jets this season and it could be a make or break year of the fearless Slovakian. – David Dickenson

February 2016 – The Austrian forward was part of a package dealt by the Blackhawks to the Winnipeg Jets to reacquire Andrew Ladd and enhance Chicago’s Staley Cup odds. Besides, Dano, the Jets get a 2016 first-round pick, a conditional third-round pick in 2018 if Chicago wins the Cup, defenceman Jay Harrison and forward Matt Fraser. In 48 NHL games for the Columbus Blue Jackets and Blackhawks, the 21-year-old Dano has registered nine goals and 14 assists. He has 23 points in 34 games with a plus-17 rating for the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs this season and has yet to justify Columbus drafting him 27th overall in 2013. Mark Allan

January 2016 – After coming to Chicago over the summer in the Brandon Saad trade, Dano opened the season with the big club before being sent down to Rockford in December. There was a lot of hype surrounding Dano coming into the season, with many hoping he would be able to give fantasy owners the production we are seeing from Artemi Panarin. Since being sent down, Dano has 18 points in 28 games for the IceHogs and seven points in his last eight games. Despite the underwhelming year thus far, the Austrian is still just 21 years-old with a bright future on one of the most fantasy-friendly teams in the league. Dano remains a strong hold in dynasty leagues. Matt Donohue

May 2015 – Dano had a great season, both in the AHL and NHL. Like Wennberg, he was called up early in the season to replace an injured Blue Jacket. After a short stint early in the NHL early in the season, he was sent back to the AHL before being called up again in February – where he stayed the rest of the year. Since February, Dano put up 19 points in 27 games, playing alongside Scott Hartnell and Alexander Wennberg. This was done seeing little-to-no PP time. He plays a chippy, gritty two-way game that helps create space for his line mates. But, he’s also shown flashes of offensive instincts as well. It’d be a safe bet to say he’s solidified his place in the Jacket lineup next season. Chris Bagwell

October 2014 – Dano made the Blue Jackets’s roster out of training camp. The injuries to Nathan Horton and Boone Jenner definitely assisted this news. Currently, he is competing in a third-line role alongside a Matt Calvert and Mark Letestu.

April 2014 – Dano had an interesting 2013-2014 campaign. He began it in the KHL, playing for HC Slovan Bratislava. There, he amassed just five points in 41 games before transitioning to the Springfield Falcons of the AHL. In eight games with this North American club, he accumulated the same number of points. Dano also participated in the 2014 World Junior Championship for Slovakia. He had two goals and one assist in five games. Slovakia was eliminated by Sweden in the quarterfinals. At just 19 years of age, Dano has plenty of time to bulk up and sharpen the details of his game. After signing a three-year entry-level contract in March, Dano will surely see more time in the AHL. If he keeps pace with the eight games he’s played thus far, he’ll have an impact on the big club in the near future. He has a big body and a high hockey IQ. Chris Bagwell

June 2013 – Austrian-born Slovak Dano registered his name in the hockey database after a strong 2013 World Junior showing, scoring two goals against the Canadians. His nine points through a half dozen WJC games for Slovakia left scouts very interested in this speedy two-way Austrian born forward with very good hands. Although he is not blessed with ideal size, Dano plays an aggressive game and uses his speed and agility to elude defenders. Dano competed for Slovan Bratislava of the KHL in 2012-13 registering three goals and 7 points in 37 games. Brendan Ross
