August 2018 – After a mediocre season with the Hartford Wolfpack, Catenacci went unsigned in North America and opted to sign in Europe with the HC Bozen Foxes of the Austrian Hockey League (EBEL). Brayden Olafson
August 2017 — Catenacci had a solid finish to the 2016-17 season after being acquired by Hartford in February. This off season the restricted free agent signed a one year two way deal with the Rangers for the 2017-18 season. Heading into his fifth professional campaign, the time is now for Catenacci to prove his value as a versatile depth forward if he is to have any fantasy relevance longer term. Geoff Kent
March 2017 — After playing eleven NHL games late in the 2015/16 season Catenacci was expected to push for a roster spot in Buffalo in 2016/17. Unfortunately, Catenacci’s season got off to a lacklustre start in Rochester where his production dropped by almost half (0.26 PPG vs 0.48 PPG) through fifty games. In February 2017 Catenacci was dealt to the Rangers where he is looking to reignite his career with the Wolfpack in his 4th pro season. Geoffrey Kent
July 2016 – The Buffalo Sabres have resigned Catenacci to a one-year, two-way contract worth $575,000 at the NHL level and $85,000 at the AHL level. Catenacci scored at just under a half point per game with the Amerks last season. Scoring 24 points (12-12) in 50 games played. Catenacci could get a chance to make the Sabres out of camp as a fourth liner. He will have to show coach Bylsma that he can keep his up-tempo style of hockey consistent. If he is cut, he will see a bottom-six role with the Amerks and will be a bottom-six injury replacement throughout the year. Paul Zwambag
February 2016 – Catenacci has been recalled from Rochester, he will finally get a chance to make his NHL debut on Saturday night. Look for him to create space with his speed and finish his checks on a third or fourth line role. If he wants to keep his NHL roster spot he will have to focus on playing a fast and aggressive game. He will want to make sure he isn’t too aggressive and take himself out of the play trying to make a big hit. Paul Zwambag
June 2015 – Catenacci’s second full season in the AHL was more productive than his first, he tallied nine more points, but played in eight less games. He almost doubled his penalty minutes from the year before. Catenacci hasn’t been able to translate his junior hockey scoring ability to his professional career, he is projected to be a lower level winger on the Buffalo Sabres if he can continue to grow his defensive game. He has one more year left on his entry-level contract, Daniel will have a chance to prove he can play a bottom six role in training camp, but will likely be on the Amerks roster for the entire year. Paul Zwambag
May 2014 – The former first overall pick of the OHL draft hasn’t been able to live up to the hype that once followed him but he did find relative success in his rookie season in the AHL scoring ten goals and adding ten assists in 70 regular season games. His 20 points were good enough for third amongst rookie scorers on Rochester behind 2011 first round pick Joel Armia and college free-agent defenseman Chad Ruhwedel. Catenacci is a fantastic skater with blazing speed and even though he only stands at 5’10” he’s not afraid to go into the dirty areas and throw his slight frame around. Buffalo doesn’t really need another forward of Catenacci’s build but he could be a player that if given the opportunity somewhere else he could flourish. Travis Watson
March 2013 – In 67 regular season games for the Owen Sound Attack this season, Daniel Catenacci posted 38 goals, 41 assists, 79 points and 115 penalty minutes setting career highs in goals and points. Catenacci was also named the third hardest working player in the OHL Western Conference Coaches poll. Brendan Ross
December 2012 – Catenacci was one of 12 defensemen and 21 forwards invited to take part in Canada’s National Junior Selection camp for the 2013 World Junior Championships in Ufa, Russia. The small hard-working forward has already potted 17 goals and 44 points (30 games) for his Owen Sound Attack in the OHL currently leading the team in scoring and will challenge for a bottom-six role on Team Canada. Brendan Ross
March 2012 – Daniel Catenacci entered the 2011 entry draft as a bit of a wild card. He is a player that packs a lot of punch for a undersized centerman but possesses a lot of intangibles including leadership and a strong work ethic. Catenacci is an exceptional skater with a quick first step and good lateral agility. The former first overall selection in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection draft, Catenacci has progressed nicely improving his goal and point totals each season while adding a ton of penalty minutes. As a third round selection of the Buffalo Sabres, Catenacci is a good value pick and his 5-10 frame fits perfectly into an organization willing to give smaller forwards a chance.
