March 2020 – Donaghey is currently a member of the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL, a Tampa Bay affiliate. His NHL rights are currently unowned and his production has dropped off from last season. His 43 points in 64 games last season allowed for some hope that Donaghey could get back to the AHL level with some time but this season he has struggled to a 21-point season in 60 games which likely casts some doubt on his AHL potential at this point. He isn’t going to be a factor for the fantasy community moving forward. Tony Ferrari
June 2019 – Donaghey did not get a qualifying offer from the Sharks which means he becomes an unrestricted free agent. Jokke Nevalainen
September 2017 – Donaghey had the best campaign of his junior hockey career but any enthusiasm should be tempered. Traded twice during this past year, from Moncton to Charlottetown before the season started, Charlottetown to Val d’Or, then Val d’Or to Sherbrooke three days later. With Charlottetown Donaghey produced at nearly a point-per-game pace with 10 goals and 25 assists in 37 games. With the subsequent trade to Sherbrooke he only managed a single goal and 4 assists in 15 games. A drop this precipitous from a 20-year-old in junior hockey this is, to put it mildly, not good. Nothing to see here. Brad Phillips
November 2016 – Skating in his fifth QMJHL season, his first with the Charlottetown Islanders, Donaghey is tied for the lead in defencemen scoring with 23 points through the team’s first 19 games. The 20-year-old Donaghey has never shown to be an elite scorer from the back end, so this level of production is likely, not sustainable, but notable all the same. Brad Phillips
February 2016 – Donaghey is a mobile offensive-minded defender that has been well traveled in the Quebec Major Junior League. He currently plays out of Moncton for the Wildcats after stops in Halifax, Quebec and Rouyn-Noranda. He earned himself an NHL contract by showing decent upside to the Toronto Maple Leafs as an invitee to prospect camp after being passed over in the draft after being ranked just inside the top 150, which was a “dream-come true” as the Leafs were his boyhood favorite. He has recently been dealt to Ottawa as part of the Dion Phaneuf trade, and fits in as a prospect with a better outlook than many of the current Sens projections. As a likely pro next year, his transition should be monitored as he is yet to ‘wow’ but can make an impact. Currently he has 23 points including six goals in 38 games this season. The goals are noted because he actually scores amongst the QMJHL top-10 on defensive goals when pro-rated. Jason Banks
