July 2021 – Daccord has been selected in the expansion draft and will join the Seattle Kraken organization. Dave Hall
October 2020 – Daccord is coming off a good season and could be the first netminder called up if the Senators are struck with injuries in the crease. There are mixed reviews on what Daccord can be at the next level but the chance to be a contributor will be there at some point. The Matt Murray acquisition creates a bit of a blockage for Daccord. It will be interesting to see how much runway the former Arizona State netminder. Tony Ferrari
February 2020 – Daccord has been better in the AHL than he was in the ECHL which doesn’t come as much of a surprise because of the improved team around him that comes with the promotion. He was often let down in the ECHL by his team’s defensive breakdowns which aren’t quite as frequent at the AHL level. The promotion has brought new life to the Senators’ young netminder as he’s put up a top-ten save percentage of .918 and has shown improved positioning and athleticism. He’s been working in tandem in Belleville, splitting time with Filip Gustavsson as of late, which seems to be working for all of the developmental goaltenders in the system while Hogberg is up in Ottawa. While he is still likely a project at the moment, Daccord has been showing all the promise that Ottawa hoped for when they took a flyer with the 199th overall pick in 2015. Tony Ferrari
November 2019 – Daccord has been decent at the ECHL despite his poor statistical profile. His .892 save percentage is nothing to ride home about but the former NCAA netminder has shown the tools that made the Senators sign him last season. If the play at the AHL level continues to be subpar, expect Daccord to receive a call-up to the AHL club by the new year. Tony Ferrari
September 2019 – Joey Daccord seems to be the odd man out in Belleville as he was recently cut from Belleville’s training camp roster and assigned to the Brampton Beast of the ECHL. This could be a good thing for Daccord as he will likely take on the bulk of the starts for Brampton. If he plays well and has a strong season for Brampton, he is likely to get some AHL games this season. Tony Ferrari
June 2019 – It was a whirlwind season for Daccord. After signing with Ottawa, he found himself playing his first NHL game against the Buffalo Sabres. He will begin next season as part of a three-headed goalie monster in Belleville. At this point, it looks as though Daccord will probably find himself playing for Brampton of the ECHL. That’s not a slight to him but rather will give him the best opportunity to see pucks and continue his development. This late round gem still needs some shining and could be a sneaky find for the Senators two seasons from now. Jordan Deshane
February 2019- What a season it has been for the Arizona State Junior. He has posted a .930 SVS% and a 2.20 GAA in 32 games for the Sun Devils. The veteran netminder has carried his team to a possible entry in the NCAA Tournament in Buffalo next month- a major accomplishment for a program that only joined the NCAA four years ago. Expectations have been low for Daccord, drafted 199th overall in 2015. He has shown this year that he has the potential to be a stud in net. The pressure is on for Ottawa to sign him this year. The odds are strong that they will. Ottawa will need a couple of years of development before they can realistically make a push. It would be in their best interests to have Daccord logging big minutes in either Belleville or in the ECHL with Brampton to ready his game for a push to the NHL in 2021. While goalie development can be challenging to project, Ottawa may have found a major diamond in the rough. Jordan Deshane
January 2018 – Daccord has been a regular in the ice bath this year as he’s been on the firing line on a nightly basis. Defense appears to be an entrepreneurial activity at Arizona State as the seventh round pick has faced 40 or more shots in nine of his 20 starts. The good news is that Daccord leads the entire NCAA in both shots faced (732) and saves (667). The bad news is he’s also given up the second most goals (65). He’s sits with a 6-10-4 record and has a 3.32 GAA and 0.911 SVS, both massive improvements over his 2016-17 numbers. Brad Phillips
June 2017 – Going to a newly-created program can be a bit of a good news-bad news situation for a player, expecially for a goaltender, and that was certainly the case for Daccord. Playing in 15 games for the Sun Devils, the most out of the three ‘tenders, Daccord saw a lot of rubber to the tune of an average of 27 shots per night, and posted some ugly numbers with a 3-8-1 record, 4.04 GAA and 0.892 SVS. The latter two marks were second-last and eighth-last in the nation respectively. Daccord put himself behind the eight ball very early on in the season getting shellacked for nine goals in his first NCAA game against one of the top teams in the nation, Notre Dame. But it wasn’t all bad – over his final eight starts he did show signs of improvement that potentially bode well for the coming season, improving his GAA by 0.87 goals and increased his save percentage by 28 points. Where Daccord plays in 2017-18 is still not clear with rumours suggesting that he might follow in the footsteps of his father, current Maple Leafs goaltending consultant Brian Daccord, and head to Switzerland to play for Ambri-Piotta. Brad Phillips
January 2016 – Passed over in his first year of eligibility, Joel “Joey” Daccord was selected by the Ottawa Senators with their final pick in the 2015 draft. Daccord rocketed up the Central Scouting rankings going from the 29th ranked goalie in the midterm rankings to 10th in the final rankings. Central Scouting had this to say about Daccord “He’s a very good positional goalie who plays a quiet, calm and relaxed style,” said Al Jensen of Central Scouting. “He spreads out well and plays the top of the paint on most shots, has excellent balance in his stance and lateral movements. He’s got great instincts, reads and reacts very well and reminds me a lot of the way Curtis Joseph played.” After spending the past five seasons playing in the US High School system (earning first team USA Today High School All-USA Boys Hockey team honours in his final year), Daccord has stepped up a level playing for the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL. Serving as the team’s number one goalie the results have been mixed, posting a record of 11-9-2 with a 0.902 save percentage, a 2.92 GAA and two shutouts. Daccord has one big thing advantage over his fellow goaltending peers in that his father owns a goaltending school and was a former goalie coach for the Boston Bruins. He is committed to the newly formed hockey hot bed of Arizona State for the 2016-17 season. Brad Phillips
