February 2020 – Still playing the majority of his games at the AHL level, Jaros has recently started to produce at a rate that is closer to his career norms after a bit of a stumble coming into the new season. He likely expected to make Ottawa’s roster out of camp after spending the majority of last year with the big club and has had to face reality as a player who is stuck somewhere in between NHL and AHL regular. He’s up to 14 points in 29 games, good for about a half-point-per-game as a blueliner which is nothing to scoff at. The 23-year-old is getting to a point where he will need to take a step and prove that he is an NHL caliber player and he may get that opportunity after the expected purging of the Ottawa roster that should come at the NHL trade deadline. Tony Ferrari
November 2019 – Jaros has spent all but one game this season in the AHL where he’s been among the best defenders for the Belleville Senators. He provides versatility to his game that many defenders don’t possess and seems to be good but not great at many things. Jaros is currently stuck as a ‘tweener’ who likely should be getting NHL minutes but just can’t seem to force his way onto the team despite having spent the majority of last season, full of ups and downs, as an NHLer. He’s already seen one brief single-game stint with Ottawa and he should see more as the year progresses. Tony Ferrari
September 2019 – A bit of a surprise cut from Senators’ camp after playing the majority of the season in the NHL last season, Jaros will look to continue his development in a pivotal year for the 23-year-old. He doesn’t have a ton of offensive upside but projects as a thrid-pair defender and secondary unit player on special teams, specifically the PK. He could be one of the Senators’ first call ups on the backend should injuries arise. Tony Ferrari
March 2019 – While he’ll never be confused for Bobby Orr, the strong and steady Jaros can be a valuable asset in multi-category leagues. Having spent nearly all of this season in Ottawa, we have gained an appreciation for what he can bring. He averaged 1.74 hits, 1.32 blocks and over one shot per game. While other defencemen may put up more offence for you, Jaros could prove to be a decent streaming option as he continues to mature. Jordan Deshane
March 2018 – Jaros started the season in the AHL with Belleville for two games before being recalled for his first ever NHL stint after injury problems on the Senators blue line. He played in his NHL debut against Vancouver on October 10th, 2017. The team played seven defensemen, so Jaros only logged 6:22 of ice team in a shootout win, however he tallied up three hits in that short period of time. He played another game before being sent back down after Johnny Oduya returned to the lineup. He played the next 34 games in the AHL racking up two goals and 10 assists, as well as one of the best plus minus ratings on the team before picking up a foot injury that has kept him out since December. Jaros is projected to make his return in March, so hopefully he can come back and pick up where he left off. Marcus Griep
June 2017 – Prior to this past season, Jaros was seen as being a strictly defensive, shutdown defensemen. But then he went out and had the best offensive season of his career to the tune of five goals and eight assists in 36 games, all the more impressive given that Lulea was a brutal offensive team. He saw a significant uptick in ice time of three and a half minutes over his 2015-16 numbers, averaging over 18 minutes a game and increased his shot rate by half a shot per game. He’s built like a tank but still needs to get quicker in order to make it to the next level. Brad Phillips
December 2015 –After being passed over in his first year of eligibility, the Senators selected Jaros in his second time around in the fifth round. A big, right handed shot (something sorely needed in their prospect pipeline), Jaros is a defense-first D-man who isn’t afraid to throw his body around and plays with poise that belies his age.
Last season he split his time between Lulea HF in the SHL and the SuperElit with to J20 program. In 25 games in the SHL he registered one solitary assist while playing sparingly. This season Jaros started the season with Lulea but was loaned to Asploven of the Allsvenskan where he has spent the majority of the season. He has two goals and three assists in 22 games and has racked up 53 penalty minutes. Jaros was a big part of the surprise bronze medal winning Slovakia team at the 2015 World Junior Championship earning recognition as one of the top three players on his team. He’s serving as captain for this year’s entry and is out to prove that last year was no fluke for Slovakia. If they are to challenge for another medal, Jaros will play an instrumental role in their success. Brad Phillips
