March 2018 – Cole Ully was reassigned to the ECHL in late December and has scored a point per game while playing for the Stars’ ECHL affiliate. He was struggling in the AHL this year which led to the demotion. Ully is already 23 years old, and struggling to make tangible gains – not a good sign for fantasy owners, if there are any. Matt Kowalski
January 2017 – Ully has played 23 games for the Texas Stars in the AHL, and has looked like one of the the best players on the team, when on ice. He’s another prospect that is eclipsing totals from last season, with seven goals in 23 games, which is what he had in 42 games in 2015-16. He’s a little small, which might make him vulnerable to injury, but he has the ability to be a terrific goal-scorer, as he’s shown the shoot-first mentality. Matt Kowalski
March 2016 – Seeing another 5th round pick out of the WHL light it up had some Stars fan thinking they’d found another Jamie Benn. That might be a bit of an overstatement, but on the whole Ully has played well in his first professional season. To date he’s registered five goals and nine assists in 34 games with Texas. Caught in a numbers games, he also had a two week stint in the ECHL where he was a point a game player with six points in as many games. With any young player there will be highs and lows in your rookie campaign. Ully is no different suffering through a one point in 14 game stretch over January and February. The offense has come along as of late, culminating in a three point effort and First Star honours in Texas’ latest games against Manitoba. Brad Phillips
August 2015 – Playing on a bad Kamloops team Ully (likely) finished off his junior hockey career with a bang racking up 94 points in 69 games, good for 5th in WHL scoring. With Kamloops failing to qualify for the playoffs, Ully was assigned to Texas to get his first taste of the professional ranks appearing in two games and chipping in one assist. Ully showed some flashes of his offensive creativity during the prospect camp scrimmages last month. Next season Ully will go from being “the man” in Kamloops to another spoke in the wheel with Texas, and facing better competition, so it’s worth monitoring to see how well his offensive game translates. Brad Phillips
December 2014 – The Dallas Stars have officially signed Ully to an entry level contract. Ully has been a force for the Kamloops Blazers thus far. In 35 games Ully leads the Blazers in goals(16), assists(32), points(48), Plus/Minus(plus-14), and power play goals(6). Cole stands among the tops in the WHL in those same areas, third in assists, tied for fifth in points, and tied for 18th in goals. Rex Doty
November 2014 – Through 16 games for Kamloops this season Ully has not only picked up where he left off in 2013-14, if anything he’s taken it up another notch. So far he has 26 points (9 goals, 17 assists) in those 16 games, which places him in a tie for second in scoring in the WHL. Ully broke out in 2013-14 amassing 30 goals and 72 points in 69 games, totals he is on pace to best. Ully was recently named to Team WHL for the Subway Super Series. Has lots of potential as a goal scorer and also makes good passes to setup teammates. Rex Doty
