Displayed the ability to play with skilled players at the NHL last season but his opportunities are running out.

June 2019 – Rattie did not get a qualifying offer from the Oilers which means he becomes an unrestricted free agent.  Jokke Nevalainen

March 2019 – Rattie’s great finish to the 2017-2018 season (nine points in 14 games) and his impressive 2018 preseason (seven goals, 11 points in four games) both seem like a distant memory at this point. Rattie struggled under Ken Hitchcock when he was a St. Louis Blues prospect and things don’t seem any different now that Hitchcock is the coach of the Oilers. This season, Rattie has recorded just 11 points in 45 games and has struggled to consistently stay in the lineup. He has some offensive skill but just can’t seem to put it all together in the NHL. The 26-year-old will be a free agent after this season and even at his current $800,000 salary, it’s unclear whether or not Edmonton will re-sign him. Jameson Ewasiuk

November 2018 – Much like Yamamoto, Rattie had a very strong preseason (seven goals and 11 points in four games) but struggled to make a consistent impact offensively to start the season. Before getting an abdominal injury on October 18th in a game against the Bruins, Rattie has recorded two points in fives games while spending most of his time on the top line with Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. The Oilers activated Rattie from IR on Friday November 2nd, and he was a scratch for the next game. With Caggiula currently taking his spot on the top line and succeeding, it’s hard to say what role Rattie will have when the Oilers organization returns him to the lineup. Jameson Ewasiuk

June 2018 – In July 2017, the Oilers signed Rattie to improve the Bakersfield Condors, and to potentially be a reclamation project. After recording 21 goals and 43 points in 53 games for the Condors, the 25-year-old earned his second call-up in March played on a line with Connor McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Rattie seized the opportunity to show that he can play with McDavid and recorded five goals and nine points in 12 games in that second stint with the big club. Rattie is reaching the point of make it or break it but he did enough in his second run with the Oilers to earn another one-year contract and will likely be given an opportunity to play in a scoring role again this season. With the Oilers’ lack of cap space, they need value contracts that can contribute in a positive way for them and Rattie has the potential to do just that. He could be a sneaky good fantasy add if he finds himself playing on a line with Leon Draisaitl or Connor McDavid. The risk is in his defensive play as his last six games saw him post a minus-6 rating. Jameson Ewasiuk

July 2017 – After failing miserably in his second chance with the Blues, Rattie signed a one-year $700,000 lowball deal with Edmonton. Mark Allan

May 2017 – It was an interesting season in Rattie’s development.  He was waived, picked up by Carolina, given a top-six role, was a healthy scratch and then waived.  St. Louis reclaimed Rattie off waivers. In five games with Carolina, Rattie had two assists. Rattie had 22 games for the Chicago Wolves and managed to score only two goals and three assists. Rattie was once regarded as one of the Blues’ most promising young forwards.  The productivity to date has been underwhelming. On the other hand, watching Rattie with Carolina, it was clear he has the talent to make it in the NHL as a third- or fourth-line right wing. Rattie is a prospect to wade into carefully if you are anticipating results in the 2017-2018 season. Doug Abrams

January 2017 – Carolina claimed the disappointing winger off waivers from the Blues. He earned an assist in his first two games with Hurricanes. Mark Allan

July 2016 – Rattie and the Blues have agreed to a one-way, one-year pact. He’s shown he can score at the AHL level, and found a measure of success in a 13-game stint with the big club, scoring four times and adding two assists. Five years after being drafted, this could finally be the year he breaks through and becomes a full-time NHLer. Brad Phillips

May 2016 – Rattie continues to be an offensive force in the AHL. One of the more prolific scorers for the Wolves, but still hasn’t received a full time spot with the Blues. He made the most out of his short stints with the Blues. He’s produced points in every league he’s been in, a more permanent role has to be close. Matt Kowalski

January 2016 – Rattie was recalled by the Blues and has had a noteworthy handful of games since getting the nod. He has tallied three goals in four games since the call up, a small sample size but important given that he has been a prolific scorer at AHL level. It will  be fun to see what the Blues decide to do if he continues on this pace. Schwartz and Paajarvi are due back in a couple of weeks, but Rattie could make the decision to send him back to AHL very difficult if he continues to score. Matt Kowalski

February 2015 – Rattie was called to Blues in late January but hasn’t shown much in his few games with the parent club. Rattie has been an offensive force for the AHL team in Chicago.  Scoring 17 goals in 43 AHL games is the offensive production the organization sees for Rattie. Likely to be sent back down to AHL soon with Lehtera’s return close. It was good for the young forward to get a taste of NHL to feel more comfortable with a faster game. A larger role with the Blues next season is probable. Matt Kowalski

October 2014 – Rattie had some impressive moments at the Blues’ camp but was ultimately cut. He appears to be close to being NHL-ready so look to see him called up at some point this year. Eric Daoust

February 2014 – Rattie has successfully transferred his scoring to the pro game as he currently leads the AHL’s Chicago Wolves with 27 points in 44 games. Due to the depth in St. Louis he may have to wait until next year to get a call-up but when he does make the leap to the NHL he should be fairly productive immediately. Eric Daoust

September 2013 – As expected Rattie will start the 2013-14 season in the AHL with Chicago. The Blues are deep up front which makes it difficult for young players to move up the depth chart. He could see some action later in the season as an injury call-up. Eric Daoust

May 2013 – Ty Rattie was recently named to the 2013 Memorial Cup tournament All-Star team after finishing second in tournament scoring (behind Nathan MacKinnon) with six goals and 12 points. The St. Louis Blues’ prospect has proven to be among the top snipers in the prospect world. Look for Ty Rattie to force the Blues’ hand in trying to find him a roster spot after showing that he could help their lack of team scoring. Brendan Ross

March 2013 – Ty Rattie finished the 2012-2013 WHL regular season with 110 points which was good enough for third place in league scoring trailing only his teammates Leipsic and Petan (120 points). Rattie’s 48 goals placed him second in WHL goal scoring after and were nine shy of setting a career high in tallies. Rattie remains a top notch goal scoring prosect and he should take his Portland Winterhawks deep into the playoffs on his goal scoring prowess alone. Brendan Ross

December 2012 – Rattie was named to the final squad representing Canada at the WJC. Rich Dillon

December 2012 – Ty Rattie was one of 21 forwards invited to take part in Canada’s National Junior Selection camp for the 2013 World Junior Championships in Ufa, Russia. Rattie will be competing for a spot on the team as a scorer and I personally like him on the right side of a potential line featuring Hudon and Strome. Brendan Ross

October 2012 – Off to a slow start on the season with no goals and one assist in his first five games. Also sat out a game with a suspension for a stick infraction. Rich Dillon

August 2012 – Quoted from Report Cards of Canada-Russia Challenge Article: Playing in a top-six role, Ty Rattie was crucial to Canada’s success as the team won in each game he scored. With a two-goal, three-point effort in game four, Rattie fought hard to earn his points battling defensemen in the crease for positioning. Rattie showed a new level of physicality that I hadn’t previously witnessed venturing into the dirty areas and winning puck battles. Offensively, Rattie has a unique gift and as he develops into a complete player, I truly feel he will become one of the better fantasy players from the 2012 draft class…if he can overcome the Blues’ ridiculous depth on forward. He has a real knack for being in the right place at the right time and that cannot be taught. Brendan Ross

July 2012 – Rattie has signed his three year entry level contract with the Blues. Rattie will be hard pressed to earn a spot in St.Louis this year as the depth chart is rather clogged. He is not eligible to play in the AHL, so he will likely go back to dominate with Portland. He does need to add muscle to his frame for when he jumps to be a professional. He must also show up on the world stage be making Team Canada and leading their potent offence in the World Juniors. It will not be expected Rattie will need time in the AHL to develop, but if Portland is eliminated from playoffs late in the season, he could join Peoria for their playoff run as a ringer. Jason Banks

May 2012 – Rattie’s regular season success carried over to the playoffs where he had 33 points in 21 games, leading his team to one game within the Memorial Cup. He was second in the playoff scoring race and will push hard at Blues camp next fall to make the big club. Zenon Herasymiuk

February 2012 – Rattie is an offensive spark plug that has very good smarts and always seems to be around the puck. Through 55 games this year, Rattie has totaled 97 points, including 48 goals and 49 assists. If he can build strength and continue to become a more complete player, Rattie could challenge for a spot on the Blues next year. If not, expect him to make Canada’s World Junior team and set the WHL on fire again. Zenon Herasymiuk
