July 2022 – Krys was not tendered a qualifying offer by the Maple Leafs and he will be an unrestricted free agent. Nick Richard

May 2022 – Krys got into 36 games for the Marlies following a trade from Chicago, netting a goal and nine assists. The 24-year-old blueliner is a pending restricted free agent who should receive a qualifying offer from the Leafs this offseason but he appears destined for AHL duty once again. Nick Richard

December 2021 – The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Krys in exchange for veteran forward Kurtis Gabriel. The former second-round pick is expected to fill a role on the Marlies’ blue line and the Leafs are banking on a change of scenery to help Krys realize his untapped potential. Nick Richard

April 2020 – The shine is starting to wear off the apple. Krys struggled in his first pro season, battling both injuries and inconsistency. It’s not time to cut bait with this elite skating defenceman yet, but the leash will be very short as there has been an influx of blueliners added to the system. Tony Carr

February 2019 – Krys seems to have regressed slightly in his junior season with the Boston University Terriers. His point totals are down across the board and he has missed some time for various reasons. This is not the time to panic but it is definitely something to keep an eye on. He is still an elite skater and based on that skill alone, he will be given every opportunity within the organization. Tony Carr

December 2017 – Krys was a shocking omission from the US World Junior prelim roster. Off to a great start to his sophomore season, Krys is progressing nicely at both ends of the rink, already surpassing last years offensive numbers, while using his smarts and skating ability to control the defensive end. It will be interesting to see how he handles not being invited to camp. Tony Carr

January 2017- Krys is enjoying a great freshman season with Boston University, suiting up in every game, while contributing at both ends. Despite being the final player cut from the US World Junior team, Krys’ development appears to be right on track, aided by learning from standout defencemen (and fellow Terriers) Charlie McAvoy and Dante Fabbro. Sept 2016 – Selected by the Blackhawks in the second round of the 2016 draft, Krys is an effortless skater who is able to make plays in both the offensive and defensive zones simply by using his great speed. Making up for his lack of size with superior on ice IQ and vision, Krys has committed to perennial college powerhouse, Boston University for the 2016/17 season. Tony Carr
