Michael Carcone

October 2023- After years of grinding, Carcone made the Coyotes opening night roster. He’s expected to play a bottom six role with Arizona but does offer some offensive potential after leading the AHL in points last year. He has one goal and two points in five games so far in 2023-24. Keith Duggan

June 2023- After leading the AHL in points with 85, Carcone suited up for Canada at the World Championships. There he had six points in 10 games and helped Canada win gold. Carcone will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and should gather interest. Keith Duggan

January 2023- With injuries hitting Arizona, specifically former Tucson teammate Matias Maccelli, the Coyotes have recalled Carcone. The recall was well deserved as Carcone was leading the AHL in points with 16 goals and 42 points in 27 games. When he was cut in camp last fall, the Coyotes wanted to see Carcone play a more complete game. Arizona felt along with the offense he was playing a more 200-foot game. So far, he has played well for Arizona, putting up one goal in three games. Keith Duggan

October 2022- Carcone came into training camp looking to earn a bottom six spot with the rebuilding Coyotes. After a decent camp, he instead cleared waivers and was assigned to Tucson, where he will be a leader on and off the ice for them. Carcone is off to a great start, leading Tucson in points with six in four games. He played 21 games with Arizona last year and when injuries strike it’s a strong possibility Carcone will be one of the first recalled to the big club this season. Keith Duggan

March 2022- Since the start of February Carcone has been on fire, racking up 13 goals and 16 points in 13 games. That brought him up to 37 points in 43 games, his 23 goals total good for ninth in the AHL. The Coyotes see his strong play and expect to recall him soon. Keith Duggan

October 2021- A dark horse player to make the Coyotes, instead Carcone cleared waivers and has been assigned to Tucson. Keith Duggan

September 2021- Traded to Nashville for Zach Magwood before the 2020-21 season, Carcone looked to be without a team as Milwaukee would not be playing. Luckily he was loaned to Tucson, the Coyotes AHL team. Carcone recorded a team-high 15 goals along with 10 assists for 25 points in 35 games. Which was good for second on the club in scoring. He had a four-goal game vs San Diego on April 9th- the first by an AHL player in more than two years- en route to winning CCM/AHL Player of the Week honors. Carcone clearly impressed and was signed to a two-year, two-way contract this offseason by Arizona. Keith Duggan

October 2020 – Carcone has planted himself firmly as an AHL depth piece. His NHL likelihood should be looked at as no more than a tweener at this point. He will be 25 at the end of the 2020-21 season which ages him out as a prospect, if he is even considered that at this point. Tony Ferrari 

November 2019 – After a strong year in 2018-19, Carcone has taken a step back early in the 2019-20 season. After putting up 44 points in 62 games (0.71 points-per-game), he is struggling early with just six points in 19 games. He still has an outside shot of becoming a capable bottom-six forward at the NHL level that can provide some peripheral stats but likely won’t be contributing much in the counting stats department at the NHL level. Tony Ferrari

August 2019 – Carcone signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Ottawa Senators. He could earn some playing time with the Senators this season. Primarily an AHL producer at this point in the 23-year-old’s career, this could be the opportunity that the left winger needs. While unlikely to break camp with the big club, he could be among the first call-ups and if the season goes as expected, he should get a shot to play after the trade deadline, assuming the Senators sell off againg and/or expiring assets. Tony Ferrari

June 2019 – The Maple Leafs have qualified Carcone as an RFA, giving him a chance to stick around next season. He was a very useful middle-six player on the AHL Marlies since his acquisition and will likely hold a similar role in 2019-20. Hayden Soboleski

June 2019 – Carcone was a consistent performer during the Marlies’ playoff run, and appears to be a legitimate top-six option in the AHL. He remains more of a complimentary player than a play driver, but he is more than capable of keeping up with the play, finishing off set-ups, and making smart decisions with the puck. A sleeper pick for occasional call-up duty in 2019-20, but he will need a very strong training camp to leapfrog his internal competition for a spot with the Leafs anytime soon.  Hayden Soboleski

March 2019 – Carcone has been a good fit on the Marlies since being acquired halfway through the year.  His overall points rate is down, but his goal-scoring and peripheral stats are up and he’s been a reliable winger capable of transitioning the puck between zones and fore-checking well. He is gaining fantasy value as a future bottom-six NHLer. Hayden Soboleski

December 2018 – The Leafs have acquired Carcone from the Canucks for Josh Leivo.  Jokke Nevalainen

March 2018 – Carcone witnessed suble improvements in his second professional campaign. The undrafted signee totaled 13 goals and 25 points in 62 contests while seeing time primarily in the team’s middle six forward corps. Able to play all three forward positions has made him a versatile option for head coach, Trent Cull and despite standing just 5’9, he plays far bigger, enjoying the physical side of the game and fighting for position in front of the net. 2018-19 will be the final year of his ELC and he’ll look to take another step forward in his development – hopefully earning a look in the Canucks’ bottom six at some point. Cam Robinson

September 2017 – Carcone was a standout at last summer’s prospect camp and is doing the same thing this year. His play throughout the Young Stars’ tournament is in part thanks to his age (21) but is promising nonetheless. With strong vision and a quick and heavy release, Carcone is a dark horse to steal some headlines in Utica this season despite some more prestigious names joining the fold this fall. Cam Robinson

September 2017 – Carcone took an indirect route towards the NHL. He didn’t step into the CHL until his 18-year-old season, but was productive through two campaigns with Drummonville. He recorded 47 markers and 89 points in 66 contests in 2015-16 – good enough to earn himself a contract with the Canucks that June. Carcone had a solid rookie campaign in the AHL last season which displayed improvements in his two-way game and positioning. The transition into the professional game takes time and while he struggled to produce for the first half of the season, his production rose steadily in the back portion. The 21-year-old winger is looking to push up the lineup this year for the Comets and see his point totals rise along with his stock in the organization.  Cam Robinson
