Fantasy Summary

Lauzon is a mobile, two-way defenseman that will contribute all across the scoresheet if given the opportunity. He also plays with a slight edge to his game, offering additional support for those in fantasy leagues that count PIM.

February 2022 – As expected at the start of the year, Lauzon has been used primarily defensively and has contributed little in the offensive areas of the game across 37 NHL games this season. That being said, while only providing five points, he has given 56 penalty minutes, three and a half hits, a shot and just under a block per game. You shouldn’t ever be considering picking up Lauzon for offense, but he has been doing a good job providing the banger categories, while only being a minus nine on a team with some of the worst goals against, goals for and save percentages in the league. He starts two thirds of his shifts out of the offensive zone, and is given 17 minutes a night. Lauzon is half way to his breakout threshold at 113 games played, so if you are in a deep league that rewards the banger categories, he is worth looking at for those reasons only. Alex Wyatt
October 2021 – Jeremy Lauzon begins the season on the third-pairing with Vince Dunn. We will keep an eye on his development and see if his growth or the Kraken’s roster moves warrant a move up the lineup. Lauzon did factor in on one of Seattle’s goals in their first game in the league – but don’t expect that to be a common occurrence as he is known more for his defensive prowess than anything offensive. – Alex Wyatt
July 2021 – Lauzon has been selected in the 2021 expansion draft and will join the Seattle Kraken organization. Dave Hall
June 2021 – Lauzon provided stability on Boston’s backend in 2020-21, adding physicality and mostly responsible play. While his point total was modest at just eight points in 41 games, he chipped in 40 PIM, 98 hits and 53 blocked shots, proving his value in both real-world and fantasy hockey situations. He battled through two separate hand injuries this season, but will now have the summer to return to full health. There is a chance that he could be exposed and selected by Seattle in the upcoming expansion draft, however the Bruins may also elect to protect the versatile defenseman, given his continued positive development. Lauzon will look to secure his status as a full-time NHLer in 2021-2022, while further progressing his overall game. Chris Mazza
March 2021 – Lauzon is expected to be out at least a month with a broken hand. He had accumulated three points in 16 NHL games prior to the injury, spending most of his time alongside Charlie McAvoy. In his four pro seasons, Lauzon has not managed to produce much offense at either the AHL or NHL level, but he did bring much-needed stability to Boston’s top pairing. When he returns, he might be able to generate fantasy-worthy games simply by playing with the Bruins’ top defenseman. For now, the team should be thrilled that he has at least developed into a reliable option on the backend. Chris Mazza
January 2021 – Lauzon has been a nice fit alongside Charlie McAvoy on the Bruins’ top defense pairing to start the season. He has been effective in his own end, while also chipping in one assist, 11 shots on goal and a team-leading 16 hits. As of now, he will still need to add more offensive production before he can be trusted from a fantasy standpoint, however his contributions in other categories should make him an interesting option if he sticks on the top pair moving forward. Chris Mazza
June 2020 – Lauzon spent most of 2019-2020 in the AHL, where he finished with one goal and 13 points in 45 games for Providence. He racked up an additional 65 PIM, 59 shots on goal and a rating of plus-22, showing that he is capable of contributing in other categories when he is not scoring. He played an additional 19 games in Boston, managing just one goal and one assist. Lauzon signed a two-year contract extension in February, and while he might never me a major point producer, his physicality should earn him a full time NHL role in 2020-2021. Chris Mazza
January 2020 – Lauzon notched his first NHL goal of this current campaign during a one-game call-up prior to the NHL All-Star break. He also managed four hits, two shots on goal and just under two minutes of penalty kill ice time in the game. Head coach Bruce Cassidy noted a desire to add some physicality to the Bruins current group of defensemen which Lauzon can provide. Despite modest AHL production, Lauzon can hold his own from an offensive standpoint and could be an effective depth defenseman in Boston for the remainder of the year. He was sent back down to Providence to continue playing during the NHL’s All-Star week. If he is called back up after the break, look for Lauzon to push for regular playing time down the stretch. Chris Mazza
November 2019 – Lauzon has managed six points (all assists) through 18 AHL games this season. He has matched his assist total from last year in 11 fewer games but is still looking for his first goal. In the final year of his entry-level contract, Lauzon appears to be taking at least a modest step forward. He should receive his next opportunity for NHL ice time at some point this season, but he is still quite low on the organization’s long list of young, promising blueliners, and will likely spend the majority of the campaign in Providence. Chris Mazza

February 2019 – Lauzon managed one goal, 15 blocked shots and ten shots on goal through a 15 game NHL stint with Boston. He was deployed in a mostly defensive role and saw an average of over two minutes on the PK. Since returning to Providence, he has a disappointing two points through 16 games. He still has just one goal on the season, but this certainly isn’t for a lack of effort, as Lauzon has fired 30 shots on net since his return to the AHL. Another name to watch as a potential trade chip this year, Lauzon’s best path to consistent NHL time might be away from the defensively-rich Bruins organization. Chris Mazza

October 2018 – Lauzon was called up to the Bruins as an injury replacement on October 27th. Lauzon had a volatile junior hockey career that saw him suffer a major neck injury and fight with inconsistency, yet he also managed to work as a major offensive catalyst at times, showing that he holds tremendous upside as a mobile defenseman. After his acclimation to professional hockey with Providence last season, Lauzon has stormed out of the gate this year with four points in his first six games. The Bruins’ former second-round pick noted that he must work on his defensive zone consistency, and none of his points have come with the man advantage. When he returns to Providence, he should continue to develop his all-around game, working towards a potential permanent role with the Bruins in 2019-2020. Chris Mazza

April 2017 – Lauzon had an up and down season for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. After a disappointing regular season which saw Lauzon regress to a mere 28 total points after putting up 10G 40A the season previous. However, Lauzon followed up with a spectacular 14 point performance in only 13 playoff appearances. It’s hard to say what to make of Lauzon at this point but he came to play when the games were for keeps. Lauzon suffered an injury this season which saw him play only 39 regular season games and this, in part, could be the reason for the slightly lower than expected production. Mike Drover

February 2016 – Lauzon continues to exceed all expectations this year in Rouyn-Noranda. He is now one of the top-scoring D in the Q with 35 points through 29 games. He very nearly made the World Junior squad – he was one of the final cuts, released just before Christmas. That’s pretty impressive for a kid who wasn’t even considered for the team last summer. Suffice it to say that Lauzon is a very pleasant surprise for the Bruins so far. Michael Boeckler

November 2015 – Lauzon, selected by the Bruins in the second round of last year’s draft, is putting up big numbers to start this year. The offensively-gifted defenseman has picked up 25 points in his first 18 games for first-place Rouyn-Noranda. Lauzon didn’t get much attention this summer – though he was a second-round pick, he was the Bruins’ sixth selection. But Lauzon is an excellent skater with a great eye for offense. Once he fills out his big frame Lauzon could be a formidable force on Boston’s blue line. Look for him around 2018. Michael Boeckler
