Fantasy Summary
Senyshyn has the speed, release, and offensive instincts to be a goal-scoring winger in the NHL. At the very least, he should manage to become a power play asset and sound complementary scorer.

March 2023 – Senyshyn is without an NHL contract this season. He is currently playing with the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. The runway for the 2015 1st rounder to make the NHL full-time is likely over. Aaron Itovitch
March 2022 – Senyshyn’s trade request was finally accepted as the Bruins moved him to the Ottawa Senators for Josh Brown. Senyshyn will not get his chance to prove he is an NHL player. Pat Quinn
April 2021 – Senyshyn is one of several Bruins prospects taking a step forward this season. In 14 AHL games, he has managed six goals and 11 points. It is a relatively small sample size, but his per-game average is a significant improvement on his past professional campaigns. He does have a high shooting percentage of 18.8%, but there have only been four games where he has not recorded a point for Providence. His improved consistency helped earn him a call up to Boston, where he failed to register a point in seven games played. Chris Mazza
October 2019 – The new season could not be off to a worse start for Senyshyn, as he was cut from the Bruins NHL squad once again, failed to register a point in his first seven AHL games, and is now out of the lineup with an upper-body injury. Senyshyn needed this to be a good year for many reasons, one of which being that the former first-rounder will be an RFA at the end of the 2019-2020 campaign. The 22-year-old managed to see his first taste of NHL action at the end of last year, which might be the lone bright spot for his future outlook. He still possesses strong shooting and skating abilities but must hit the ground running when he returns to the Providence lineup if he wants to prove that he has potential at the NHL level. Chris Mazza
April 2019 – Senyshyn made his long awaited NHL debut April 4th against Minnesota. It was an impressive game for the former first-rounder, as he managed to score his first NHL goal to go along with four shots on goal in just under 13 minutes of ice time. Performances like this across varied levels are what made him such a high pick in 2015, however they have been too few and far between since his draft year. Senyshyn will likely push hard for a depth role with Boston next year, and while his shot and skating abilities will almost certainly earn him an NHL role in the future, his upside likely lies as a depth scorer. Chris Mazza
March 2019 – Senyshyn is tied for second in goals for Providence with 13, while also sitting fifth in shots on goal with 94. He has yet to break double digits in assists, so we will continue to focus on his ability to score. His 13 goals translate to more than 20 over a full AHL season, and he managed to pass last year’s mark of 12 goals in 26 fewer games. While a prospect with his pedigree should be dominating the AHL at this point in his development, it is clear that Senyshyn will not turn into the impact goal scorer that the Bruins hoped he would when they selected him 15th overall in 2015. He has shown improved offensive consistency this year, and should still be able to carve out a depth role in the NHL as a result of his speed and shooting abilities. Chris Mazza
December 2018 – Senyshyn continues to be plagued by inconsistent play, and has managed just 11 points through 24 games in the AHL this season. This was an important year for the young forward, however he is still struggling to impact the pro ranks on a game-by-game basis. His stock as a talented prospect continues to plummet, as the Bruins and fantasy owners alike have to be disappointed with his development to this point. There are still plenty of games left in the current campaign, and one silver lining is that Senyshyn has managed to fire 26 shots on goal over his last 11 contests, after just 14 in 13 games to start the year. Hopefully this is a sign of better days to come. Chris Mazza
October 2018 – After an inconsistent first pro season, Senyshyn is once again off to a slow start this year. Over six games, the former first-rounder has just two goals to go along with a rating of minus-5. Even more disappointing are the low nine shots on goal from the noted goal-scorer, who managed 114 in 66 games last year. Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy made it clear that the next step in Senyshyn’s development is finding his ability to compete as a professional and bridging the gap between AHL and NHL hockey. Thus far as a professional, Senyshyn has not yet managed to find the ability to impact the AHL, and it appears as though he may need much more time to put the talented pieces of his game together. Chris Mazza
April 2018 – Zach has started his professional hockey career with a streaky year in Providence. He did post a respectable 25 points and was a plus player on a team with less than dazzling goaltending. His game revolves around utilizing and his speed and he’s becoming a more creative player. Boston is a very deep team at the wing, as such I would expect to see Senyshyn get limited chance with the big club next year but spend most of his season in the AHL. His production increased year over year in juniors, there is nobody saying he can’t do that again in the pros. Sid Osmond
September 2017 – Senyshyn hasn’t seen much ice-time thus far in training camp. Getting the nod in game one, Senyshyn was kept off the score-sheet and wasn’t terribly effective. Senyshyn is a pure goal scorer, potting 40+ in the last two seasons in the OHL while only tacking on about half that in assists. Senyshyn broke into the AHL last year during the playoffs for the Providence Bruins but didn’t manage any points in four appearances. He’ll have to prove that he’s got the stuff to score at the AHL level before he gets a sniff at the NHL. Mike Drover
January 2017 – Senyshyn is breaking out for the Soo Greyhounds. The former first round pick has amassed 15 goals over his last ten games and has shown little signs of slowing down. Senyshyn is quickly outgrowing the OHL and we’ll all be hearing his name more in the near future. Mike Drover
September 2016 – Senyshyn had surgery for appendicitis this week and is expected to miss approximately three weeks. If things go well he may still be able to participate in training camp but his availability is still up in the air. –Mike Drover
August 2016 – Senyshyn feels 100% after an offseason bout of mono which kept him out of development camp. Senyshyn will be ready for training camp but is not expected to start the year with the Bruins. Michael Drover
March 2016 – The Bruins picked Senyshyn because of this goal-scoring ability and so far he has delivered. The sniper has 43 goals through his first 64 games this year in the Soo. The Bruins surprised many when they grabbed Senyshyn with the 15th pick in last summer’s draft (he was ranked 38th by Central Scouting), but his speed, tenacity and scoring touch has made the Bruins scouting staff look awfully cagey. Michael Boeckler
June 2015 – The Boston Bruins made the first off-the-board first round pick by taking speedster Zach Senyshyn 15th overall. Big upside forward. Brendan Ross
June 2015 – The Ottawa native has quickly established himself as one of the potential homerun prospects entering the 2015 draft as scouts are enamoured with his elite skating ability and prospering offensive game. On a stacked Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds team, Senyshyn provided the team with outstanding secondary scoring for a first year skater and remained one of the OHL’s most lethal rookies scoring 26 times and picking up 46 points in 66 games.
His north-south speed is suffocating and he owns a deceptively quick shot release that he gets off at top speed. He’s a workhorse type of player who excels when the game’s pace is high but he does tend to get over excited and overthinks things occasionally. Senyshyn battled with consistency down the stretch but that’s not uncommon for a first year skater, particularly on a veteran riddled squad earning primary minutes first. Look for this emerging OHL star to break out as opportunity is handed over to the Hounds’ youngsters in 2015-16. Senyshyn has the natural gifts for a team to take a flier in the opening round but he’s more likely to land inside the second or third round of the draft. Brendan Ross
