Jean-Christophe Beaudin

March 2020 – Beaudin managed to play 22 games with the big club this season. This was his first season of spending the majority of the year at the NHL level and the results were lackluster, to say the least as he collected just one assist while in Ottawa. His offensive upside has never been high-level and this season hasn’t done much to change that. He likely serves as AHL depth from here on out but could be an option as a call-up so that the Senators can give their top prospects extra seasoning time in the AHL. Beaudin is in the quasi-prospect stage at this point in his career and will need a big season next year to show that he has an upside that is worth keeping around going forward. Pat Quinn

October 2019 – JC Beaudin has been called up to the Senators. This is a big opportunity for Beaudin who could look to make a mark on the Senators coaching staff. While he isn’t expected to be more than an injury replacement, a good impression could lead to future call-ups. Pat Quinn

February 2019 – Beaudin has been traded to the Ottawa Senators, ending several years of misuse in the Colorado organization. The 21-year-old still has time to become a useful pro player. Hayden Soboleski

November 2018 – Now that the AHL franchise isn’t being shared, Beaudin is suiting up regularly for the Eagles. As such, he is the team’s top-scoring centerman so far with 11 points in 20 games played. He isn’t dynamic by any means, but he plays responsibly and doesn’t take penalties. That’s exactly how he started in the QMJHL before blossoming. Another year or more from potential NHL deployment. Hayden Soboleski

May 2018 – In essentially random AHL usage, Beaudin never clicked offensively in 2017-18. In order to get him suiting up more regularly, he spent significant time in the ECHL, where he had no problem scoring at a point-per-game pace between regular season and playoffs (where he was among the leagues top scorers). He should be a full-time AHLer in 2018-19 now that Colorado has a new franchise all to itself, which will give us a real chance to evaluate his pro-readiness. Hayden Soboleski

December 2017 – In another questionable roster decision by San Antonio, Beaudin has not been given AHL ice time to establish himself as a pro. Despite three points in six AHL games, he has spent most of the season in the ECHL (where he unsurprisingly has racked up 16 points in 16 games). His path to a regular role will clear up as the AHL roster gets split up next season, but this appears to be a wasted pro development year for a very talented and responsible youngster, which should make Avs fans and fantasy owners upset. September 2017 – As expected, Beaudin has been assigned to the AHL after Avs training camp. After doing everything he could in the QMJHL, his jump to pro will tell us whether he’s real-deal top-six center. Expect the talented and defensively-sound pivot to be leaned on in all situations. March 2017 – The Avalanche have signed Beaudin to a 3-year entry-level contract, rewarding the centerman for another strong junior season. He is exceeding the point-per-game mark for the second-straight year, and has gained 5 pounds over that time. He will turn pro next season and perhaps get a brief chance in the AHL this season depending on how the Huskies fare in the playoffs. He is one of the organization’s top drafted-and-developed centerman, so expect them to mke his proper development into a top-six player a priority. Hayden Soboleski

October 2016 – Beaudin has been assigned to the QMJHL for the 2016-17 season, where he will continue to grow his offensive game (he already has six points in four games). He impressed management in Avalanche training camp with his defensive awareness and generally high hockey sense, and is projecting well to be a top-six centerman in the NHL. Another year to put on weight before turning pro will make him even more well-rounded. Hayden Soboleski

April 2016 – Beaudin finished the regular season with career highs in every statistic – 33 goals, 49 assits, 82 points, a plus-46 rating and 36 PIM. He finished second on his team in points, and his stacked Huskies team is currently in the QMJHL semifinals. He has 15 points in 10 playoff games so far. He has proven capable of being a top-line center in a league flush with talent. Hayden Soboleski

October 2015 – Beaudin, along with Huskies teammate and fellow Avalanche draftee Julien Nantel, will be a member of team QMJHL in the upcoming CHL Canada Russia Series. Beaudin’s fast start to the season has been steady over ten games, in which he has tallied five goals and nine assists. Hayden Soboleski

October 2015 – Beaudin will be spending the 2015-16 season with Rouyn-Noranda of the QMJHL, where he is off to a stellar start with six points (two goals, four assists, plus-six, 18 SOG) in four games. Beaudin hopes to keep up this pace over his sophomore full season with the Huskies after an impressive rookie campaign in 2014-15. Hayden Soboleski

August 2015 – Jean-Christophe Beaudin was selected 71st overall by the Colorado Avalanche in 2015 NHL Entry Draft. The 2014-15 season with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies was Beaudin’s first full QMJHL campaign. In 68 games he accumulated 53 points (14 goals, 39 assists), an impressive plus-16 rating (ranking second on his team), plus an additional five points (one goal, four assists) in six playoff games. He received both regular powerplay and penalty-kill ice time even as a rookie, and will attempt to improve his offensive totals when he returns to the QMJHL for the 2015-16 season. Beaudin’s greatest asset is his hockey intelligence. He is praised for his excellent vision and senses on the ice, which contribute to his strong playmaking abilities shown by his assist totals throughout his career. He is also consistently highly praised by coaches and teammates for his excellent work ethic on and off the ice, where his attention to detail can be seen in all aspects of his game from his defensive positioning to his extra effort in team practices. He lacks the high-end skill seen in top scorers around the league, and his shot and skating will require time to develop, but as an 18-year-old Beaudin has lots of time to hone his skills.
