Canada left their fate in the hands of the Russia and Slovakia game on Wednesday, Canada was cheering for the Slovakians to upset the Russians, but The Big Red Machine won 5-2 over the Slovaks.

This year is the first year in the history of the Ivan Hlinka tournament that Canada has not made it to the semi-finals. In 2003 and 2007 they lost their semi-final games to finish fourth, which is the only two years they haven't won a medal since the tournament began in 1991. The world is catching up to the talented Canadians, it is very impressive and exciting to see the competition level climbing from this, the Under-18 level, as well as the juniors, worlds and professional levels.

The Medal leaders show that Canada has been dominant, but missing out playing for a medal will sting quite a bit for this young group of kids.
