Observations:

July 2016 – The 26-year-old has officially graduated after handling the majority of the starts for the Canadiens last season, stepping in for the injured Carey Price. He won 21 of his 51 starts, had 25 regulation losses with an additional six in extra time while posting an unspectacular .903 Sv% (2.71 GAA). It's not as if the team in front of him gave him much in terms of support and yet, amid a valiant effort there always seemed like there was something left to be desired from his performance. The Canadiens obviously felt the same way, as they went out and shored up the backup position by signing Al Montoya to a one-year 950k contract on July 1st. Montoya is a proven NHL backup, so that speaks volumes on its own. Toss in college FA Charlie Lindgren; winner of his only NHL start, and arguably more talented than both of them, and Condon's opportunity for ice-time in Montreal seems real dim right now. December 2015 – Condon has been one of the feel good stories around the league, as the Mass. native rose through the ECHL and AHL before winning a job with the Canadiens, of all teams. Stealing the job from Dustin Tokarski in training camp, Condon has performed admirably as Carey Price's replacement through the first quarter of the season. He has struggled of late, dropping his last three and now holds a 9-5-2 record. It's clear that fatigue and pressure have set in for the blue-collar netminder, though he hasn't been completely to blame for the Habs recent slide (Watch Condon make a Save of the Year candiate below). The 25-year-old will try to keep the Habs afloat while raising his .911 Sv% and lowering his 2.28 GAA for at least another three weeks while Price continues to nurse his knee injury. Mike Barrett

May 2015 – Condon has steadily improved in his two years as a pro after starring at the collegiate level. This past season he took over the starting job for the Hamilton Bulldogs and was one of the better goalies in the AHL with a 23-19-6 record and a .921 save percentage. His strong play earned him a two-year contract extension. This is a sign that Condon could be in line for the backup job behind Carey Price should the Canadiens decide to move on from current understudy Dustin Tokarski. For that to be a possibility Condon will have to continue his strong play in the minors while continuing to fine-tune his technical game. His large frame and work ethic certainly put him in a position to succeed. Eric Daoust
