Observations:
December 2015- Sitting in fifth place in the OHL's Western Conference, the Sarnia Sting traded three draft picks (Niagara's 2016 second-round, Sault Ste. Marie's 2017 third-round, and Sarnia's 2018 third-round), for recent Memorial Cup Champion and a proven scorer in Matt Mistele. Mistele had provided Oshawa with fairly steady offense this season (eight goals and eight assists in 19 games), but has been out with a broken finger since October 28th, and his offense had slowed upon his return. The early returns on the trade for Sarnia have been spectacular, as Mistele has posted five points (three goals and two assists) in his first three games, with Sarnia winning each game. Having joined a more talented offensive team in Sarnia (Zacha, Korostelev, Kyrou), expect Mistele's increased offensive output to continue. A successful season with Sarnia could see Mistele joining the King's AHL affiliate sooner rather than later. Philip Kamhi
March 2015- Mistele racked up a career-best 37 goals this year (after just 18 in 2013-14), attracting the attention of the powerhouse Oshawa Generals, who acquired him at midseason. Will he stand out this spring for the Memorial Cup favorite? Blessed with a strong shot and a power forward's frame, like a lot of kids, he must improve his skating. He is likely to test his mettle in the AHL in 2015-16. Sheng Peng
Mistele has a chance to contribute at a second-line level in the NHL, while adding his share of PIMs.
