October 2016 – Winnipeg optioned Kichton to their AHL affiliate the Manitoba Moose to start the season. David Dickenson

September 2016 – Kichton has looked like a late round gem for the Jets, ever since he re-entered the draft in 2013. While only 5-10 he boasts a solid 185-pound frame and has a knack for putting points on the board from the blueline. He looks the part of a puck moving defenceman and possible powerplay QB if he’s able to crack the Winnipeg roster in the next couple years. David Dickenson

February 2015 – Brendan Kichton score two goals, including one in overtime, in a Icecaps win over the Worchester Sharks where they came back from 4-0 to win 5-4. Kichton has just recently returned to the lineup after suffering a broken jaw. Kevin Won

December 2014 – Brendan Kichton has suffered from a broken jaw in practice. He’ll look to be out for a month. With only three goals and an ugly minus-12 stat, he seems to be struggling after a strong campaign last year. Kevin Won

April 2014 – Brendan Kichton has made the AHL All-Rookie Team. He finished with 10 goals and 38 assists over 72 games, good for the lead in points for defenseman on the Icecaps. He looks to have a shot at the big team next season.

February 2014 – Brendan Kichton has been announced as the AHL Player of the Month for January. Kichton posted three goals and 11 assists (14 points) in 12 games last month. Kichton led all rookies in assists and points for the month of January and had an even or better plus/minus rating in 11 of those 12 games. Kevin Won

November 2013 – Brenden Kichton has started the year off strong, leading the Icecaps’ defencemen in points with eight points (two goals, six assists) in 14 games and also leads the team with a plus-minus of five. The acquisition of Keaton Ellerby seems to have bumped him down a spot on the depth chart, but expect him to be the first call-up to the Jets should there be any injuries. Kevin Won

August 2013 – The Winnipeg Jets have announced that they have signed Brendan Kichton to a three year deal. It’s said to be at an average of around $620,000. Kichton re-entered the draft after rejecting an offer from the Islanders. Kichton earned the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy, awarding the top defenceman of the WHL. Look for Kichton to compete for a spot on the Icecaps, for he has little left to prove in the WHL. Kevin Won

March 2013 – Kichton finished the 2012-13 WHL season comfortably as the league’s top scoring defenseman with 85 points in 71 games for the Spokane Chiefs. He led his entire team in scoring as a defenseman and set new career highs in goals (22), assists (63), points (85) and plus-minus (plus-39). The young Islanders’ prospect has been trending upwards these past few seasons and will take his skills to the American Hockey League next season. Keep a close eye on Kichton’s transition to professional hockey as he holds very good fantasy value for a rearguard. Brendan Ross

February 2013 – Kichton is spending another year in the WHL with the Spokane Chiefs. He was unable to crack the Bridgeport AHL team but that hasn’t hurt his on ice mentality. In 57 games he has 65 points. Kichton is too good to not go pro somewhere next season be it in the Islanders organization or elsewhere. Zenon Herasymiuk

April 2012 – The Islanders rolled the dice on Kichton in last year’s draft, and early indications seem to show that it is paying off. Kichton is hands down one of the top five defenseman in the entire WHL. His strength lies in his smarts and puck moving ability, where he uses solid outlet passes and a decent shot to quarterback the Spokane Chiefs powerplay. He was cut from Team Canada’s WJC team, but still had a great season, putting up 74 points in 71 games. Look for him to play in Bridgeport for the Islander’s AHL affiliate. Kichton will get major consideration for the WHL Defenseman of the Year award. Zenon Herasymiuk
