Fantasy Summary

Does a little bit of everything well, but fantasy value will be moderate points to go with PIM, blocks and hits.

October 2020 – Brendan Lemieux received a qualifying offer of $971,000 from the Rangers. The 24-year-old winger has arbitration rights, but considering his limited production over the last two seasons, it seems unlikely that the team and player should need to go that far. His home on the right-wing in the team’s bottom-six seems to be relatively safe for the time being, but the Rangers could be big players in this market over the next few weeks. Brayden Olafson

January 2020 – Since joining the Rangers, Brendan Lemieux has gradually become a mainstay on the team’s third-line. His agitator style of play has made him a bit of a fan favorite, and while he’s been a reliable producer of hits and penalty minutes, the team, and fantasy owners have also been able to count on him to chip in on the offensive side of the game from time to time. His offensive ceiling is nothing to write home about, but in a league that values depth and peripheral statistics, Lemieux is beginning to look like a valuable depth add.  Brayden Olafson

February 2019 – Lemieux has been traded from Winnipeg to the Rangers.  Jokke Nevalainen

January 2019 – At this point of his young career, Lemieux is an energy guy in a bottom six role for the Jets. Even through his junior career he played a hard-nosed style, crashing the net and looking for scoring opportunities. It’s tough to say where he projects in this Jets lineup moving forward and he doesn’t carry much fantasy upside at the moment. Jamie Zadow

May 2018 – Lemieux joins a long list of Jets prospects lost in the confines that is the depth of this organization. Once a second-round draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres (2014), he brings a tenacity and toughness to his game that some may consider “old school.” The 22-year-old enjoyed a cup of coffee with the Jets in October before being sent down to the Moose. There, Lemieux racked up 170 PIM’s last season, while tallying his best AHL numbers yet with 19 goals and 43 points in 51 games. Although just 22, he will enter the final year of his entry level deal, so needless to say it’s a “show me” year for the young winger. One has to wonder if his inability to stay out of the box will hurt his chances of landing a full-time spot on this Jets roster in the near future?

April 2018 – Lemieux got the chance to show Jets fans what he is capable of during an early season call-up back in mid-October. So far at the NHL level, he brings a tenacity and toughness to the team in a bottom-six role and doesn’t carry much fantasy value. However, he is enjoying his best AHL season to date with 19 goals and 40 points through 46 games and leads the team with a whopping 147 PIM’s. Lemieux seems to be more effective in the minors and could quickly be running out of chances to impress the Jets’ coaching staff at the NHL level. Jamie Zadow

September 2017 – Lemieux was invited to Jets training camp this summer and will join the Moose in the AHL come October. He is a gritty forward that likes to get under the skin of his opponents, but for now, he is buried low on the Jets depth chart. Jamie Zadow

July 2017 – Lemieux wrapped up his first full season in the AHL with 12 goals and 19 points in 61 games for the Manitoba Moose. The 21-year-old didn’t pack much of a scoring punch, but amassed 130 penalty minutes this season, showing he can contribute elsewhere on the ice. Lemieux projects as a bottom six forward that will likely see his fantasy value trend towards deeper leagues that include hits, blocked shots and PIM. Jamie Zadow

October 2016 – Lemieux made the Winnipeg Jets opening day 22-man roster for the 2016-17 season. David Dickenson

September 2016 – The son of super agitator Claude Lemieux is a chip off the old block at 6-1 209 lbs. and always ready to stir up some trouble. He still has a solid offensive skillset, but his NHL game will be more similar to what his father played. He has a NHL frame already and could already jump into third line action getting his nose dirty in the corners or in front of the net. That being said he’s probably still a season or two away from a full time NHL gig. David Dickenson

February 2015 – Prospect Brendan Lemieux has been dealt to the Winnipeg Jets organization (Wednesday, February 11th) as part of the Evander Kane deal. Lemieux is another product of the Barrie Colts organization headed to Winnipeg. In 46 games this season with the Colts, Lemieux has set a career high 35 goals and has 50 points. His value doesn’t change too much heading from one deep prospect system to another. Brendan Ross
