December 2019 – After an injury early in the season, Bibeau has only played in two AHL contests in 2019-20. Despite this, he got himself an brief NHL tryout when two Avs goalies got injured in the same week. He got one win in two games, got returned to the AHL, and then quickly sustained another injury that will reportedly take him out for the remainder of the season. A tumultuous year to say the least for the minors veteran, who has very little fantasy stock left to worry about. Hayden Soboleski
September 2019 – Bibeau has been traded to the Avalanche. This fulfills a need in Colorado for a goalie on an NHL deal just in case a call-up is necessary, since their current AHL netminders are on AHL contracts. He projects to spend most of his time in a 1B tandem situation on the Eagles with Adam Werner. Hayden Soboleski
March 2019 – Bibeau has been splitting starts this season with rookie AHL goalie, Josef Korenar. He isn’t exactly breaking down the door of the NHL with a .904 SV% in his 26 starts. However, the Sharks goaltending situation is one to keep an eye on. There have been rumblings that the NHL club may look to give Bibeau an opportunity down the stretch, as the Sharks haven’t been receiving fantastic goaltending this year. This is probably a bit of a reach, however should Bibeau get the call I would be quick to add him just to see if he can go on a run. Chris Legg
August 2018 – Bibeau played a large part in getting a young, underdog San Jose Barracuda team into the AHL playoffs. He has been solid for San Jose since they brought him into the fold. Bibeau posted a .919 sv% and a 2.37 gaa last season with the Barracuda. The big issue for Antoine Bibeau is opportunity. Aaron Dell is one of the best backup goalies in the league and is signed through 2020, so it’s tough to see where Bibeau is going to find much of an opportunity before then. Even though goalies tend to develop later, at 24 years old Bibeau should be essentially in his prime. For these reasons, Bibeau should only be considered in the deepest leagues. Keep him in mind as a streaming option should one of the Sharks NHL tenders be injured. Chris Legg
March 2018 – The San Jose Sharks signed Antoine Bibeau to a two-year contract extension. The 23-year-old net minder has been solid all year for a very young and uneven San Jose Barracuda squad that has seen the talent picked from the bone and some nights not even enough skaters around for a full roster. Despite the lack of talent, Bibeau shown enough skills minding the twine to not just secure the new deal he signed, but also allow the Sharks to send long-time farmhand Troy Grosenick to the Nashville Predators. The nets are now completely Bibeau’s with no one to challenge him. It will be a key player to watch for the Barracuda down the stretch. Zachary DeVine
July 2017 – After the Leafs didn’t tender Bibeau a qualifying offer, he signed July 1 with the Sharks as a UFA. Mark Allan
December 2016 – With Jhonas Enroth being placed on and clearing waivers, an NHL job has become available. Bibeau will get first crack at the gig after having paid his dues in the AHL despite the unattractive stats. His play is rather stable at this moment while unspectacular, and he has an ability to ‘white-wash’ the opposition quite frequently (recently become the Marlies all-time shutout leader). It is expected that he will see a couple starts while another option Karri Ramo gets work in with the Marlies to see if he is a viable candidate. Bibeau is the cheapest choice the organization can make while assessing where they are at with the 22-year-old netminder. Keep tabs on how he performs as he could nail down the backup gig going forward much similar to what Louis Domingue did a couple years ago. Jason Banks
March 2016 – On the surface, Bibeau’s second pro season has overall been less impressive statistically than last year, yet wins are up and he is playing 33% of the games for the number one team in the AHL. He has recently posted his first shutout of the season, and has recorded only a single loss in his last 11 games, while slashing a 2.28 GAA and .926 SV% in his last 16 starts. There has been growth in his rebound control and footwork, but struggles to make big saves when needed. He is still a couple years from being ready for a full time NHL job, but Leafs’ General Manager Lou Lamoriello stated after the trade deadline, that the plan is too see both prospect goalies in the NHL. Its expected Garret Sparks will get longest look with Bibeau seeing two or three games at some point. Until then Bibeau will eat games for the Marlies and work with newly acquired Alex Stalock on how to move forward. Jason Banks
February 2015 – Bibeau has shown well in his rookie pro season but is still rather raw. The organization is doing a good job subjecting him to several situations he will need to become accustom to in his career including runs of multiple games including back to backs, times of limited action and regular splits. Usually you would say these come from situations of roll with the hot hand, but there seems to be no such correlation with this stance in the organization right now. Bibeau is very prone to up and down games, but all are a bit rough to watch. He has compiled four shutout so far and can really stand on his head at times, but also has games that leave you peeking through your fingers. Needs to work on more efficient footwork, play reading and rebound control, but has no glaring weaknesses. The organization stated he was the likely ‘goalie of the future’ in training camp and shows no appetite for sending him to the ECHL for a bigger workload, instead letting him fight for it and gain experience in the ‘A’. I wouldn’t recommend acquiring him at this moment, but he does have evident potential. Jason Banks
August 2014 – Behind James Reimer and Jon Bernier there is a lack of NHL quality depth in net available for recall within the Leafs’ system. The organization will open camp with a triple headed monster competing for a pair of spaces on the Toronto Marlies as Bibeau exits Junior a Memorial Cup All-Star. He and Garret Sparks hold an upper hand on paper as former draftees over Chris Gibson, but it would not surprising to see Bibeau head to the ECHL for workload and experience. At some point there will need to be a standout in the system, Bibeau has the potential of pushing himself forward to the top tier sooner than later but we don’t suggest you lay claim to him until the organizational outlook becomes less murky or he shows strongly in camp. May 2014 – Despite falling a few wins short of the 2014 CHL MasterCard Memorial Cup Championship, Foreurs’ goaltender Antoine Bibeau held his team in contention throughout the tournament and as a result was named to the Memorial Cup All-Star Team. Bibeau was fantastic in his tournament debut turning away 51 shots for a 1-0 win over the London Knights. He carried that momentum throughout the event and turned a ton of heads showing that his future is very bright. Brendan Ross
May 2014 – Named QMJHL Playoff MVP after Bibeau led his Val-d’Or Foreurs to the QMJHL Championship earning them a berth in the 2014 CHL MasterCard Memorial Cup. Brendan Ross
December 2013 – Bibeau has been turning heads the past couple years showing strong growth and numbers on the large island of PEI in the QMJHL. Since the 2012-13 season, he has been amongst the save percentage leaders in a very offensive junior league known for seeing goalies with sub-par numbers. Last season, Bibeau’s save percentage was .911, his numbers in 2013-14 have dropped only .003 but his underperforming team has allowed an extra six shots on goal per game. Bibeau likes to use his large body to position himself in the middle of the net and use his extremities to do most of his work, an alteration that he can get away with that in Junior, but that sort of mind set is unlikely to serve him well next year transitioning to pro ranks. Currently, he is being out played by his backup Eric Brassard, but he doesn’t seem to be losing too many starts as of yet. He is on a nine game losing skid going into the holiday season. Hopefully, Bibeau will be dealt to a stronger ‘Q’ team in the new year, where he will be able to compete in the Junior playoffs before leaving Quebec Junior. Jason Banks
