Observations:

May 2013 – Lightning GM Steve Yzerman put Anders Lindback in a somewhat unfair, high pressure situation to be a starting goaltender after only playing 38 NHL games. In fact, Lindback had only six games of AHL experience, for a grand total of 44 games on the smaller rinks of North American hockey leagues. Lindback started the season strong as did the rest of the Lightning, but ended up winning only 10 of 24 games playing in front of a very defensively weak Lightning squad. His goals against average and save percentage were near the bottom of the league among goaltender’s who played at least 24 games. Lindback is still raw in various aspects but due to his tremendous size and athletic ability, he still carries high potential to become a legitimate NHL starting goaltender. He’ll be battling trade deadline acquisition Ben Bishop for playing time in the foreseeable future. Randy Buschmann

November 2012 – The 24 year old monster, has earned his first shot to become an NHL starter with the Tampa Bay Lightning, from the limited viewings I’ve had, he has very few flaws in his game. He will need to prove his ability to start 40 or more games in a North American season and that he can give a consistent effort every night. To this point he has shown he deserves the opportunity with a career save percentage of .914 in 38 games. When the NHL resumes he will be in a ‘1A-1B’ situation with Matt Garon, and Dustin Tokarski will be pushing hard from behind. Currently in the lockout he is playing in Finland where he signed a contract with Ilves, two weeks ago.

Fantasy Outlook: B

Worth a pick up as a second of third goalie on a fantasy squad, has a bright future, but it is currently dependent on how he performs as a starter in his upcoming opportunity.

Footage: Stretches out and uses large frame to swipe a goal away from Jason Blake.
