Observations:
July 2013 – Nash has been extended a qualifying offer by Carolina. Nash had some success for Carolina and will be a great depth forward for The Hurricanes in the future and will add some much needed scoring depth to the third line. Andrew Ward
March 2013- Riley Nash has been impressive so far in the month of March. In six games this month he has three goals, two assists, and is a respectable plus-5 while averaging 13:35 minutes of ice time. Nash has displayed above average puck possession skill and his puck handling is deceptive being that he is a player that rarely shows much flash. His style is not generally fancy and he is extremely reliable in all three zones. Nash has provided some secondary scoring on an extremely front loaded team and has done well centering Pat Dwyer and newcomer Chris Terry. Look for Nash to continue in this third line role barring any injury to the top six. Andrew Ward
February 2012 – Nash is a former first rounder by the Oilers. He has a solid all-around game by being able to play in all three zones, although his size, speed and strength are his downfall at the pro level. Signed an entry-level contract in 2010 after only three years at Cornell (ECAC). Currently in second season in AHL with Charlotte Checkers with a couple of call-ups to Hurricanes this year.
Nash is a sound two-way centerman that will need to improve strength and speed to succeed at pro level.

2009 Fantasy Prospects Report:
Ask any Oiler fan who the team’s top prospect is, and the answer will probably be one of Rob Schremp (still), Jordan Eberle or Linus Omark. However, one player deserving of consideration in that group is Riley Nash. A surprise first-round pick of the Oilers in 2007, the Alberta native scored 84 points in just 55 games with Salmon Arm of the BCHL in 2006-07. While it was expected the 6’1, 185 lbs forward would need some time getting acclimatized to the college game, that hasn’t proven to be the case. In 72 games over two seasons with Cornell University, the 19-year-old winger has amassed an extremely impressive 67 points – the most of any Red over that span. Called one of the ECAC’s top players by an opposing coach, Nash’s pro-ready two-way game gives him an edge over the few players who have as much skill. Still about two full years away.

2008 Fantasy Prospects Report:
The 21st overall pick last year is virtually a lock to be an NHLer some day because of his strong two-way skills. As a rookie for a weaker university program in the NCAA, he finished second in team scoring, showing that he has plenty of upside offensively. In 2006-07, in the BCHL where Kyle Turris finished second in scoring, Nash finished 10th. He still needs some meat on his bones and so is expected to play at least two more seasons for Cornell before making the jump.
